They're coming to Cincinnati, so I guess I'll end up going. I'm a little worried about how Brian will perform, but as I've always told myself, the next time I see him could be the last. I know I will enjoy Chicago, and am pretty sure Al and Blondie will be worth it. So yeah, Brian will be there, maybe the Brian we saw in the studio in the documentary or maybe not, but we will get to see him and for me that is all I need as long as he looks like he wants to be there.

It will be interesting to see if they do a joint set with both bands. I've got to say, this is what occurred to me, as well. You've got several horn players in Chicago who could supplement Mertens and Gregory on some of the more symphonic Wilson tunes, and of course the Wilson band has singers who could supplement some Chicago music, including (as previously pointed out in this thread) one of the guys who sang on the original "Wishing You Were Here," Al Jardine.
At least having some members guest on some tunes for each group would be a nice use of the available talent.

Got some great seats for Kansas City and didn't need to use my Citicard to buy the tickets since the "SURFSUP" code from Brian Wilson.com was posted on Facebook before I went to purchase tickets. I'm refinancing my house, so no credit charges for me this month! I really do hope there is some some "guesting" from each band. Something to look forward to this Summer!

I tried to get tix through the pre-sale Thursday, but it looks like a smart phone is required (at least for the Alpharetta, GA) show to receive tickets. My phone does not have capability to receive tickets, so I'm out of luck for now. Will try to phone the venue tomorrow and see if there's a workaround.

I was able to call the venue, and they told me to come to Will Call the day of the show and they will print the tickets out for me. The seats I got are not as close as I’d like, but the trade-off is more legroom. So, I’ve got my Brian and co. tix — yay!

I haven't heard of that issue in the local music-oriented venues yet, but at least one of our sports stadiums went to all-digital ticketing with smartphones being the on-site "ticket" a few years ago, and it caused quite a commotion. I know people think "what's the big deal? Everyone has a smartphone," but that's not really true. And there are other complications involved in giving away tickets, etc., too. (Not to mention, not everyone with a phone really wants to also download various required apps, which inevitably increase the likelihood of being involved in a data breach.)

Other than the digital headache, I like holding onto ticket stubs as mementos.
It's sad that when my son eventually starts to attend sporting events and concerts, he'll likely never use an actual ticket.

I guess I should have taken advantage of the presale because now the cheapest non obstructed view tickets are over $100. This is at a 10000 or so seat venue, so not worth it at all for what this entails. Lawn seats are $35, but I don't have much interest in that. I'm fairly confident I'll be able to find something cheaper much closer to the July 23rd date.

My Beach Boys' buddy texted me this afternoon. Brian Wilson (with Al and Blondie) are coming to the American Music Theater in Lancaster, PA next May 10 - with Chicago. He (my friend) is gonna try to get the gang back together. I'm in...especially for the dinner and conversation with old friends.
I have to check but I think the COVID-19 makeup date for the Mike & Bruce concert in Hershey, PA is in April next year. But that one's already paid for! Your buddy, is wrong. On 5/10/22, its just Chicago. Not Brian too.

Brian Wilson's Facebook Page just posted a brief hype video in preparation for the start of the Brian Wilson / Chicago Tour tomorrow night.
The video shows still pictures of each bandmember while a live version of The Little Girl I Once Knew plays.
I could be wrong, but I think it's actually the Live at the Roxy version that played on the video, but I wonder if the video suggests that TLGIOK is returning to the setlist. I don't think Brian has played it in quite some time.

I'm really interested in hearing and seeing how Brian performs, more than usual. Maybe it's the long layoff, or maybe because his performances have slowly degraded with each passing year. I'm still on the fence about seeing him next month, but starting to lean towards not going.

The only quasi local show for the BW / Chicago Tour for me is in Camden, NJ. It also coincides with my summer vacation, so it's really not even an option for me.
Also, thanks to pesky little things like the increase in ticket and gas prices, I feel like I need to be more selective with what shows I attend than ever before, and after seeing Brian five times between 2015-20, I doubt I'll be seeing him again.

The nearest show on this tour to me is in the Chicago area, which is a solid 7 hours away by car, or a ~45-minute flight (but with all the attendant hassles and costs associated with that). Needless to say, that made my decision about whether I'd see him again--at least on this tour--for me.
Overall, I have been going back and forth about whether I'm done seeing him for more than 10 years. I think I'm done, then I see him again. Sometimes better, sometimes worse. The last one I saw was a '16 or '17 Pet Sounds show, and it wasn't very good. (Or at least, Brian wasn't very good: everyone else was stellar.)
However, I am really interested in hearing and seeing reports and clips from this tour, to see whether they contribute to one another's sets at all, with horns or vocalists supplementing the groups.

The last time I saw Brian was in January 2020, and I've actually not been to a concert by anybody since. I have tix for McCartney on Sunday, so hopefully my drought ends in six nights.
But, that night in 2020, Brian was in OK form. The band was great. Since it was a casino show (apparently, casino appearances are not a Mike Love exclusive) there was really none of the between song banter and no encore, they just played right on through Love and Mercy without a break. At the end of the day, the highlight of that show was hearing Feel Flows in concert.
If Brian did another theme tour like Something Great From '68 (a tour I really regret not attending), I'd probably be persuaded to go, but I'm far more reluctant to see another Greatest Hits set.

I attended a Something Great show. I probably wouldn't have gone if not for the Zombies, but Brian was in decent form overall. I'm also in the same boat of being on the fence about seeing Brian, but I always end up saying to myself, once he's done, you're going to go 50-60 years without seeing him, so why not? At some point though, the performance becomes so bad that you just have to stop. Some of those Christmas shows had me really concerned beyond the poor singing.
