Kapitan: A new No. 1 in the Hot 100 thread, the final one of 1961 (and first of 1962). Sept 13, 2024 19:17:02 GMT
jk: As a comment on Sheriff's most recent "RR&R" post, Joe's first 45 in the UK was "Marjorine": www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2vRA3yhGbE. It was part of my piano repertoire for a while. I recall Joe was an inveterate air guitarist! Sept 14, 2024 10:52:42 GMT *
Kapitan: The next No. 1 from the Hot 100, well, we're skipping that, having already covered it back in the 1960 chart-toppers. But ironically, the song that knocked it off the top spot in 1962 was also inspired by and capitalizing on it. Sept 18, 2024 19:47:47 GMT
jk: I'll look in there and comment soon. ;) Sept 19, 2024 10:52:41 GMT
jk: I'll give the album covers thread another day or two to develop, otherwise out it goes. It seemed like a good idea at the time! Sept 22, 2024 9:20:37 GMT *
Kapitan: Leave it, (not that I'm in a position to give orders, just suggesting). No need to disappear history, plus someone will want to post in it eventually: it's an evergreen topic. (We were just talking about liking having old threads around to revive.) Sept 22, 2024 11:53:28 GMT
B.E.: Yeah, keep it around. It's a good thread. Sept 22, 2024 13:52:31 GMT
jk: Thanks -- I'll keep it around! Sept 22, 2024 14:54:11 GMT
Rob: Yes, keep it around. I think the lack of posts so far might be due to the very subjective nature of the topic. Much of it has to do with the type of music a person listens to in the first place, so one man's trash is another man's girlfriend, so to speak. Sept 25, 2024 1:26:29 GMT
kds: I would love to contribute to that thread, but posting images is a struggle at the moment Sept 25, 2024 13:16:31 GMT
Kapitan: I've begun giving that thread some thought as well. My first thought is, I really don't think about album covers in a positive way very often: it's more negative, or unnoticed/neutral with me. (I'm not an especially visual arts person.) Sept 25, 2024 14:37:42 GMT
Kapitan: A new tune in the Hot 100 thread: another confusing back-story and a vocal bass line that seems custom made for Mike Love (who did in fact sing it live, anyway). Sept 27, 2024 15:16:46 GMT
jk: Respect to monolithic for launching and maintaining some great new threads here and at EH. The proverbial breath of fresh air. ;) Sept 30, 2024 19:53:42 GMT
Kapitan: Indeed, but also other new and newish members contributing. It's always fun when new voices join in. Sept 30, 2024 20:35:34 GMT
monolithic: Thank you for the kind comments which I hadn't noticed until now. Oct 11, 2024 22:27:34 GMT
jk: You're welcome, M. :) Oct 12, 2024 14:51:26 GMT
jk: , please let us know if one of us has to take over the Hot 100 #1's thread. You realize it would be second best, but at least it would keep going... Oct 26, 2024 18:30:34 GMT *
Kapitan: :carllaughing: Oct 26, 2024 20:11:48 GMT
Kapitan: New Hot 100 #1. Oct 28, 2024 14:58:58 GMT
Kapitan: We say farewell to one of the most successful female recording artists ever with the latest--and her last--Hot 100 No. 1. Nov 14, 2024 20:18:38 GMT
