It's an interesting thought experiment, debating which approach would do better: a hit-based, maybe state fair kind of approach, possibly without a big a band, but likely to attract more people; or a bigger band doing theaters and doing deeper cuts, where ticket prices would be higher and you'd attract more die-hards.
Of course, that is to some degree the two-decade old Brian Wilson Band versus M&B Beach Boys difference (though those bands have gotten more similar over the years).

To be honest, I think a Beach Boys related band without the name "Beach Boys" or "Brian Wilson" might have a little more freedom in terms of setlists. I say that because I doubt a band without the "Beach Boys" banner or Brian Wilson would be able to play the smaller sheds or larger theaters that the current bands play now. I think they'd hit more of a niche audience, so with those smaller numbers, I think they'd be a little less obligated to play a full on Endless Summer / Sounds of Summer type of show.
