I was curious what original or longtime members of Chicago are still with them on tour. Not being a big fan (or even a modest one ... I can probably name about three Chicago songs, actually, though I'm sure I'd recognize more), I looked it up. Lo and behold, their touring bassist is ... Brett Simons, TLOS-era bassist for Brian Wilson.
Also I noticed on that image how the Chicago logo looks a lot like the old Beach Boys style. Too bad BW has changed fonts, at least for purposes of this tour.
Anyway, the tour doesn't really come anywhere near me. So between that and not being a Chicago fan, I guess I will not be attending. I suspect my '16 or '17 BW Pet Sounds show might end up having been my last one.

I'm a pretty casual Chicago fan. I have a two disc best of that I really enjoy, and I have a couple of their early albums. I can't say I've ever really liked them enough to pay to see them live, especially with no Terry Kath or Pete Cetera. The closest show to me is about a 90 mile drive, and it happens to be when I usually go on summer vacation, so this is a no show for me.

My Beach Boys' buddy texted me this afternoon. Brian Wilson (with Al and Blondie) are coming to the American Music Theater in Lancaster, PA next May 10 - with Chicago. He (my friend) is gonna try to get the gang back together. I'm in...especially for the dinner and conversation with old friends.
I have to check but I think the COVID-19 makeup date for the Mike & Bruce concert in Hershey, PA is in April next year. But that one's already paid for!

Well I love Chicago - Robert Lamm sings and has written many of my favorite of their songs - and they are coming to Kansas City - so I am definitely getting tickets! I know Brian cancelled his European tour, but I can see why he wouldn’t want to travel overseas at his age and with the Covid scares. I am already going to see Mike and Bruce in February (feel like I’ve had those tickets forever due to Covid, but after I emailed Mike about songs I’d like to hear from he and Bruce, darn if they didn’t add “All I Wanna Do” and “Disney Girls” to their set list) so if I get to see all of the remaining Beach Boys in the same year, even if not together, so be it. I’d just go see Chicago on their own, so this is a big win for me. Al and Blondie are going to be there too - so wow - I’m just over the moon!

“Saturday in the Park”, “25 or 6 to 4”, “Beginnings”, “Does Anybody Really Know What Time it Is”, and “Questions 67 & 68” were all written by Robert Lamm. Lamm sings lead on “Saturday in the Park”, “Does Anyone Know What Time it Is” and “Beginnings”. Some of the greatest songs ever. Lamm will be there. Yes, Chicago without Terry Kath, is kind of like The Beach Boys without Carl Wilson, but still wonderful. I could care less about Peter Cetera. Take a listen to Chicago IX.

I occasionally think I need to dig through the Chicago catalogue. Maybe when we finish the Beatles thread ... which is going to take about 500 more years!

It will be interesting to see if they do a joint set with both bands.

I've seen Chicago with The Beach Boys (never with Brian Wilson) about four or five times and it was always an outstanding concert. Yes, members of both bands come together on stage for the encores and perform a few songs together - I recall "Feeling Stronger Every Day" and "Fun, Fun, Fun" as two of them. Sorry, carllove, but I've never seen Chicago perform "Wishing You Were Here" live, though it is great song and a favorite of mine. Who knows, maybe they would attempt it with Brian's band.
As far as I know (and I stand to be corrected), there are only three original members of Chicago still touring - Robert Lamm, James Pankow, and Lee Loughnane.

As long as Robert Lamm is still there, I am all in. Also Pankow wrote a lot of the hit songs. I’m just so beyond excited. Just keep looking for my Citicard email with the presale code. I am so jealous. Wish I could have seen that. I didn’t even see The Beach Boys until 1986. Then again, you probably know because I went to see the Moody Blues. Beach Boys were an afterthought. I had never heard Pet Sounds, Sunflower, Surf’s Up, Friends or 20/20 then.

They're coming to Cincinnati, so I guess I'll end up going. I'm a little worried about how Brian will perform, but as I've always told myself, the next time I see him could be the last.
