That's odd that he'd say Brian didn't want to do Wishing You Were Here, considering he wasn't one of the vocalists who joined Chicago onstage. I wonder if it was Paul who made that call. One thing I forgot to note in my review is that during intermission, I saw Brian's tour buses leaving the show. Could be that Brian didn't want to hang around for another hour plus while he waits for the guys to sing one song. On the other hand, there were two buses, so he might have a bus to himself and could leave early regardless.

Brian had his own tour bus.

Which makes it that much more a strange move to nix his bandmates from singing with Chicago (if it was really him who nixed it).

I don't think Brian really...cares. Brian doesn't have much connection to Chicago. He didn't participate with The Beach Boys guesting on "Wishing You Were Here". He didn't appear with The Beach Boys and Chicago on the 1974 New Year's Rockin' Eve broadcast. He might've...associated...with members of Chicago at Caribou Ranch in 1974 but it might not have been music-related. And, he didn't participate in the 1975 Beachago tour. In 1989, The Beach Boys and Chicago toured together again - with the solo artist Brian Wilson - but I don't think Brian shared the stage with Chicago (any videos of that?). Did he share the stage with them on this tour?

Either way, it's a shame that Brian, or somebody from Brian's band or management team, nixed the collaboration on Wishing You Were Here. Seemed like a pretty cool moment in the concert.

Did they keep doing the horns on Darlin, or was it an all-or-nothing deal that they nixed after that one show? The interview wasn't clear, but I'm guessing somebody might know.

Robert Lamm said this:
"The first night we did “Wishing You Were Here” with the Beach Boys and then during our set we did the Beach Boys’ “Darlin'” with just our horns playing the horns as they were on that track. But after the first night of “Wishing You Were Here,” Brian didn’t want to do it because I think he sensed that it wasn’t working."
Which to me says two things: one, Lamm thought it was Brian's decision... and two, he thought it wasn't working either.

Five paragraphs down in my review of the concert: Then we get to see the only combined performance with the Chicago horns adding some punch to Darlin. Darian Sounded great and I am glad I got to see him perform live.

I was trying to recall when I asked it originally whether anyone had seen BW on this tour. I recalled a few people having seen the BBs but BW wasn't coming to mind: I'd forgotten you saw him. (Now, that I think about it I think TCK did too, though.) Anyway, thanks for the info ... though I have nothing to do with that info. Just was wondering since they dropped the one, whether they dropped the other.
As for Darian on "Darlin," he IS great, isn't he? I love Darian in general. I love his voice, love his musical abilities. Love his version of " Do You Have Any Regrets" way, way more than BW's. In a way I'm sad he has spent these past two decades mostly as a sideman instead of a featured artist. But he probably made a far better living in that role.

The first time I saw Brian, Darian knocked This Whole World out of the park (I think Brian sang the intro, and Darian the rest, but don't quote me on that).

Very nice vocal from Darian during the June 20th Brian Wilson Concert. “I Can Hear Music”. I didn’t video “Darlin’”, unfortunately.

I was surprised that Darian sang it instead of Matt, but I looked through some of the other reviews from this Summer and they all mention Darian singing it. He does do a great job with it.
