That is a less-than-thrilling setlist. The only song that hasn't been a Beach Boys-affiliated group standard forever is "Wake the World," and even that's been a regular for Brian's group for years now. (As well as "Postcards," of course.)
Granted, once you're plugging in a few Wilson Phillips songs and a cover, you're losing room for those deep cuts. And as we've all said a thousand times by now, realistically most people want to hear Beach Boys hits!

Yeah - I think given the success of Feel Flows and the activity on the boards, it seems that there are so many fans that want to hear deeper cuts, but then you realize that we are from all over the world and there are maybe just a few fans like ourselves in each city. It was painfully obvious at Mike’s Kansas City show.

They did perform “Wake the World” - The song I kept playing this weekend that evidently annoyed my husband the third time I played it! 🤣 Interesting though how similar his set is to Mike’s current set 🤷♀️ They did, but that song's been pretty regularly played in Brian's set since 2015.

Yep, the hits put the butts in the seats. But, I'd hoped, back when Al and Matt started his shows, that since Al was flying smaller venues that his setlists might be a little more daring. To his credit, he was playing stuff like Lookin' at Tomorrow, Luau, Santa Ana Winds, and Vegetables at those shows.

kds, I thought for sure you were going and was looking forward to your review! Seems like you didn't miss out on too much judging by the setlist.

I was considering it at one point, but weeknight shows are getting tougher and tougher, and it's difficult to get a sitter. At least I didn't miss out on any real surprises.

I am very surprised at that ^ setlist. First, I thought Al would perform 10-12 Beach Boys' songs, then there would be a separate Wilson Phillips set of about 3, 4, 5 songs (they had that many hits!) - and then Al would come back with another 10-12 songs including the encores. "Monday Without You" is a surprise because not many people even know it, and guess who was the third vocalist featured on The Wilsons version. Hint: But, he wasn't there last night. Also, Wilson Phillips recorded a version of "California Dreamin'" as did The Beach Boys, and guess who had a co-lead vocal on The Beach Boys' version. Hint: He was there.
Feel Flows, the much-ballyhooed boxed set, is still the "new" album. Al Jardine contributed a song to that boxed set ("Lookin' At Tomorrow") and is featured prominently on two others ("Don't Go Near The Water" and ""Surf's Up"). Where were those songs?
No "Cottonfields"? - one of the few BB hits that Al sings lead on and one of the few songs he arranged. Al also wrote a song for Holland - "California Saga: California" - which was also a single. So, which Holland song does he choose to perform? "Sail On, Sailor".
I realize you gotta play your share of BB songs/hits, but "Hawaii" and "Surfin' U.S.A."? Was Al even on those records?
I love Al. We all love Al. But he is a very perplexing man sometimes.

I think the reason that they played "Sail On Sailor" is that it generally gets a good reaction from the audience, no matter which BB-related or BB-tribute act is playing it.
Edit: I listened to the recording of last night's show on YouTube, and sure enough, the audience is singing along to SOS.

Does anyone know the full band, by chance? I know a few people had been mentioned over the months, but I'm not sure I ever saw the whole band.

Other than the Wilsons and Jardines, I know Ed Carter's in the band.

Well if you're bb you have to play Surfin u.s.a. no matter where you go or what you do even if you weren't on the original record.
Also does anyone know if the show in San Juan Capistrano is going to be this band or just a scaled-down one of Al with a guitar and with his son Matt?
I don't know if they've made any changes in that regard because of the other shows that were canceled. I wish Dave would join Al I would really love to see a Dave and Al show together.

Full Fam & Friends band: Ed Carter, Probyn Gregory, Bobby Figueroa, and Debbie Shair. Front line is Al, Carnie, Wendy, and Matt. Not sure if Carnie's husband (Rob Bonflglio) is there.

Rob B. was someone I was wondering about, myself. Surprised (but not in a bad way) to see so much crossover with Brian's current band: Probyn, Debbie, Matt, and of course Al himself (plus Rob if he's present) all being at least semi-regulars in Brian's band. I did not expect to see Probyn or Debbie, in particular. Not that I mind it!

I checked a couple of the setlists since opening night.
Come and Go with Me has been added. Hardly a deep cut, but I don't think Al's sung it since the C50 Tour, and I don't think it's done by Mike & Bruce very often.
Also, CA Saga: California was played at the NY show two nights after, according to Setlist.FM, after an audience member shouting it.
