I think Brian will be out there as long as "his handlers" keep pushing him out there. The Brian Wilson show must be very profitable - for someone. Again, I just have to say how sad he looks when I see current footage of him onstage. I can't believe he is enjoying this experience. I think Brian would be happier just sitting at home, noodling on the piano, looking out the window. But there's no money to be made in that. Why are you so dedicated to this ultra-cynical, and largely irrational, narrative/agenda? It's not unlike joining a Beatles forum and incessantly hating on Yoko and spouting Paul is Dead/Faul conspiracy theories. And make no mistake, this is a conspiracy theory. Literally his entire family, bandmates, and doctors would all have to be in on it. Pretty much everyone close to him and anyone associated with touring. And, for what? For how much money is this all being held together so tightly and for so many years? It's been reported many times (not to mention seems highly likely just as an observer from afar) that his tours are NOT "very profitable". By the way, that's quite a healthy and fulfilling life you'd subject Brian to. I'm not sure how much happier he'd actually be, though. I'm guessing his happiness is rather fleeting. Hey, maybe he'd be happier dead? Does that suit you? (And, wouldn't you know it, I'm guessing there's money in that.) (Sorry, if this is not enjoyable content to read, I sympathize.) Thinking about this response to my comments again, I probably wouldn't have said what I said if I'd known it was going to elicit such a response. I'm used to that over on the Smiley Smile board. I thought I was among company that felt somewhat similarly to myself. A friend of mine does have a question, though: when was the last time Brian and Melinda were seen together in public? He finds it odd they he hasn't seen them together in several years. I don't pay enough attention to those things to know whether she travels with him or not. Maybe she's at home taking care of their large family. Is it up to five children now?

You shouldn't worry whether people agree with you in posting. People are free to post whatever they think, and others are free to question it. It's the nature of (sometimes spirited) conversation.

Personally, I think the truth is somewhere in between the two extreme fan reactions to Brian shows ("The show being a religious experience" vs "It's so sad they're wheeling Brian out there.")

Yeah, they've had five children now for about 10 years. As for being seen in public, I don't follow those sorts of things either. (I don't even follow my own family and friends on social media!) If they indeed haven't been seen in public for a while (and by that I suppose you/your friend mean seen at a concert by fans or a photo in a magazine or a TV appearance or something), no, I don't think that's all that odd (nor evidence of anything inappropriate).

Is it strange that people comment on this stuff, yet no one asks about Mike and his wife, or Al and his wife. BTW, Mrs. Jardine is in that Carl dvd that Billy did a few years ago; quite an attractive woman if I might say so.

Yes, I think it's strange. Then again, I think taking much interest at all in the personal lives of artists is somewhat strange.
With Brian I think people do it because they see him as vulnerable, knowing something about his medical/mental history. So I get it. But it's still weird. Who cares whether they see him with his wife or kids in public? Honestly that question never even occurred to me, "when's the last time I heard about Brian out with wife in public?" I think I could have gone the rest of my life without ever wondering.

Well, since the pandemic and I guess even before that, Brian hasn't really been out in the public very much. I think it's safe to say his lifestyle is slowing down, though I have no concrete evidence to that effect. I mean, most 79-year-olds with back issues do.
As far as Melinda not accompanying Brian on tour, I figured it was two main things. First, yes, they do have five kids which I'm sure would appreciate the attention. Second, I have to think the thrill is gone, or however you want to describe Melinda not accompanying Brian and attending his concerts. This isn't a knock on Melinda, but I never thought of her as a rock & roll/musician's wife...if you know what I mean. I never thought she was into that "scene", or the music for that matter, now as an older person and wife of the star attraction. Also, I have to think Melinda trusts the band to take care of Brian's needs on tour. They have been with him for decades now.

I'll just add that I find it a little more unfair than strange, because to an extent I do understand why Brian and Melinda are singled out/treated differently. Again, unfair, and, yes, a little strange, IMO.
Anyway, good on Al for bringing back his Family and Friends show!

Haven't seen this mentioned here, but beachboystalkmatt and beachboystalk said they'd seen Bobby Figueroa will be joining Al for at least some shows this year, presumably in these F&F shows.
Very cool. Looking forward to hearing more info, including who else might join in.
Of course, that's assuming these shows can happen...

When they announced a show in Bethesda, I was tempted, but I'm really hesitant to buy tickets for anything right now, especially an event that takes place in Winter.

I wonder if its due to COVID or poor sales.
I saw Al post about rehearsing a Holland rarity. I wonder if Beaks of Eagles is getting dusted off.

I wonder if its due to COVID or poor sales. Could be both, since the two are related. There is still so much uncertainty in different venues, different cities and their policies, etc. It's hard to know what will be available, when, and what the conditions will be--and how the locals in those cities will respond to what the conditions will be.

They did perform “Wake the World” - The song I kept playing this weekend that evidently annoyed my husband the third time I played it! 🤣 Interesting though how similar his set is to Mike’s current set 🤷♀️
