I have come to enjoy The Light Album the last couple of years. M.I.U. Not so much. I will need a day or two to make up my mind. You know a vote is coming for “Here Comes The Night”. Glad to see it already has one vote!

Again, I really could have used an 11th vote. I was going back and forth on "Sweet Sunday" and "Goin' South". I kinda surprised myself by how reluctant I was to leave off "Goin' South" because I do have some qualms with it. But, ultimately, I suppose, it's deeper. The lyrics, in particular...it just resonates more. ("Sweet Sunday" is a very good production, though. I think it's an overlooked gem!)
By album (chronologically):
-Come Go With Me -My Diane -Winds of Change
-Good Timin' -Lady Lynda -Angel Come Home -Love Surrounds Me -Baby Blue -Goin' South -Shortenin' Bread

In order, but not etched in stone:
1. Good Timin' - I put this in the all-timer category, maybe on the lower rung, but there nevertheless.
2. Baby Blue - Yep, Dennis did it again, with A LOT of help vocally from Carl. 3. Match Point Of Our Love - One of Brian's best vocals from any era, and there's nothing wrong with the lyrics! I love this song.
4. Lady Lynda - This might be Al's best song, also a great vocal performance all around. It obviously rocked more in concert.
5. Wontcha Come Out Tonight - Yeah, it's a simple one, but it just feels good, and it makes me happy to hear Brian's rehabilitated voice.
6. It's A Beautiful Day - I wish it would've been on the KTSA album; it's a good song and vocal performance if a bit slick production-wise. 7. Pitter Patter - A nice all-around BEACH BOYS' song; I wish M.I.U. had another one or two of these. 8. Peggy Sue - It's not a bad cover; I wish the ending was different. It was a single which isn't mentioned or remembered much. This song features the best lead vocal of Al's career - listen to it. 9. Angel Come Home - This song did not reach its potential and it had much more. It could've used a better Dennis lead (or from another BB) and the production lets it down. This song should move more and rock more (like The Midnight Special version). 10. Here Comes The Night (Single Version) - This is not a token vote. I like this version. It sounded great on the radio. It's also one of Carl's best lead vocals and harmonies (from whoever). Credit whoever came up with the idea to re-record it.
10A - She's Got Rhythm - It might be more emotional/sentimental to me than ranking it higher. I love Brian's vocal and I will always defend it. The track is good, too, especially the drumming. I like the Brian/Mike interplay vocally. If I make any changes it'll be moving this one up.

Basically, I voted for most of LA - minus the disco track; plus It's a Beautiful Day, Kona Coast (everybody hates it..well, bite me!) and Sweet Sunday Kind of Love.

I used the same process as last time: quickly, without thinking at all, note those songs that just feel like they HAVE TO be i my Top 10. Then go back and deliberate to add or remove songs, as necessary.
My initial "must-have" list was just three songs. There are plenty I think are fine, but really not many that I thought I had to champion. My second pass gave me four more, so my Top 10 was seven strong. It took a third time through to decide what belonged. This is definitely not a pair of albums I especially love. I do find them very listenable, though, not like the late 80s/early 90s duds or the first two albums.
Songs in order of appearance, sorted by tier.
Sweet Sunday Love Lady Lynda Angel Come Home
She's Got Rhythm Wontcha Come Out Tonight? Full Sail It's a Beautiful Day
Pitter Patter Good Timin' Love Surrounds Me

I somewhat surprised myself, picking six tracks from MIU and four from LA.
Come Go With Me Kona Coast Sweet Sunday Kinda Love Pitter Patter My Diane Winds of Change
Good Timin' Lady Lynda Full Sail Angel Come Home
I considered Belles of Paris, but I prefer its Christmas counterpart (the opposite of how I feel about Kona Coast), as well as Sumahama and Baby Blue.

Thinking in terms of my album split, I've got:
- Four from MIU (She's Got Rhythm, Wontcha Come Out Tonight, Sweet Sunday, Pitter Patter) - Five from LA (coincidentally, the first 5 songs of the album: Good Timin, Lady Lynda, Full Sail, Angel Come Home, Love Surrounds Me) - One non-album song (It's a Beautiful Day)

My list is heavy on L.A. - but a couple of M.I.U. songs made it, even over "It's a Beautiful Day", which is not a bad song:
1. "Angel Come Home"- One of my favorite Dennis songs (and you know I love me some Dennis!) It's even better live!
2. "Good Timin'" - One of the Boys better later efforts.
3. "Here Comes The Night" - I will take any version. This is the song (album version) that I have Alexa start my weekend celebration with each week. It picks me up. Yeah - Disco was a a big deal during my teenage years!
4. "Baby Blue" - More beautiful music from Dennis. I am big sucker for anything Dennis.
5. "Full Sail" - Wow - The timbre of Carl's voice on this song makes my toes tingle.
6. "Goin' South" - More wonderful vocals from Carl.
7. "Lady Linda" - I really like Bach. Nice vocal from Al as well.
8. "Love Surrounds Me" - Dennis was the Boys best songwriter in this time frame.
9. "Come Go With Me" - The Boys do a great job with this song. I don't skip it.
10. "Pitter Patter" - It's kinda charming

I didn’t “discover” Dennis’ talent until the release of Feel Flows, which was after I joined this board. I think His melodies are as divine as Carl’s voice. Carl is the only one of the two who I dream about though.

My picks for this round, once again in the order they appear in the poll:
Come Go With Me Peggy Sue Pitter Patter Good Timin' Lady Lynda Angel Come Home Love Surrounds Me Baby Blue Shortnin' Bread (my BBs guilty pleasure) It's a Beautiful Day
As I've said before, I have zero love for disco, so no votes for HCTN here. (The Wild Honey version rules!)
