Somewhat interesting post on Brian's Facebook page: Anybody want to hazard a guess? I read that Yes drummer, Alan White, is sitting in with Brian but that's only supposed to be on 9/16/19. Since it says guests, plural, I'd venture it's from a group. How about Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons dropping by and singing "Then She Kissed Me". Or Brian May and Roger Taylor performing, I don't know, pick I song. Or Pete and Roger. Or Bruce and Little Steven. Who's in L.A. right now? Mike and Bruce?

One of the (only?) special guests at Brian's show last night was Billy Idol. I'm still wracking my brain trying to figure out...why. I read recently that fans are walking out of Brian's recent shows. Are they trying to sell tickets?

That seems like an odd mix.
I wonder if the deeper setlist is leading to the reported fans walking out.

The Larry Lurex tunes (I Can Hear Music and Goin Back), plus the pre-Freddie band Smile, was on one of my very first boots ever! I was so excited, awful sound quality notwithstanding...
Billy frickin Idol? Yikes. That's funny, though. Maybe that was Brian's management's idea of a hot contemporary artist. The next album of collaborations is being lined up as we speak: Idol, Steve Jones, Aerosmith, Paula Abdul, and Milli Vanilli.

That one-two punch of "Passing By" and "Diamond Head" is a toughy for non-diehards. That's a shame really. After three years of basically doing the same setlists over and over, the band changes it up. Can't please everyone. Considering the show promised songs from Friends and Surf's Up, that's pretty silly on those fans' part.

"Can't please everyone"
Ain't that the truth. That's why I do try--even if it doesn't seem like it--to give artists leeway. My opinions are just mine, and everyone's got their own. Beach Boys fans, I've learned over the years, are impossible. The dream setlist for Fan A is a nightmare for Fan B.

BB fans are indeed a special, and hard to please bunch.

"Student Demonstration Time" might make an appearance? My ass, it might... I so hope it does. Just to see the reaction of the Brianista camp. I imagine a couple might do a 180 "You know, it's really not a bad song, and has tons of energy."

Oh, it'd be a hoot. But I'd bet there is a better chance Brian doesn't remember the existence of that song than that he's considering adding it to the set list.
Myself, I HATED the song for years. But maybe five or six years ago, I had to recognize the track itself is good. I don't like the siren, and I think the lyrics are really clunky, so I can't say I like the song overall. But it's not 100% awful, which was how I thought of it for my first decade or so of fandom.
(I'd still remove it from the Surf's Up album, personally.)
