I know This Whole World was in several C50 setlists, and was in the set at the beginning of Brian's NPP Tour in 2015. I don't think M&B have done it since the end of C50. I don't remember it being in the C50 setlist. I'm curious who would've taken Carl's lead? Al maybe? They did it at the Maryland show I attended. Brian sang lead. When I saw Brian do it in 2015, he alternated lead vocals with Darian.

Any musicians out there? Guitarists? You gotta love this! Great work. And when it gets to the 6:50 mark, I'm in heaven.

Come on, admit it. You all were singing along, including the backgrounds.

Yes indeed, Sheriff, "heaven" is the only word for it! Joshilyn Hoisington's YouTube channel (see my signature) has more goodies, including the long-buried guitar lines in "This Whole World". I'd say her "Power Mower" project is the much-needed shot in the arm the Beach Boys community has been waiting for.

There were so many great things about Brian's work in 1963-1967 - the melodies, chord patterns, arrangements, vocal harmonies, etc. But this video points out - even though you can hear it it's not in your face - just how great of a "sound" Brian got. His tracks SOUND so good, thanks to the use of guitar parts like this.

I think Mike acquits himself very well amidst all that frilly flute stuff: This song appeared the first BB bootleg I ever bought. It had song titles but no sources. It was years before I knew where this came from. Thanks for sharing.

And people talk about the "Lei'd in Hawaii" organ-heavy reinventions! That was unique.

I don't remember this from the time (though I might have seen it and forgotten), but YouTube recommended it to me today. Always fun hearing Al mis- and barely remember details.

Assuming the history books are true, it seems like over the past few years, in interviews, Al is embellishing his importance with the formation of the group and when/why he returned, and also with his contribution to "Sloop John B" (it's gone from Al's suggestion to record the song to Al also contributing to the arranging).

This 1977 interview was posted elsewhere, but I thought everyone here would enjoy hearing a very talkative (if apparently under the weather, considering that cough!) Brian discussing things like his just-written "Still I Dream of It."

Yeah, I listened to that when it was first posted. Very enjoyable. I should have taken notes! There were some interesting comments. Some of it touched on discussions we've had here recently. For instance, I like that he defended the cover songs on 15BO. IIRC, he specifically mentioned "Blueberry Hill", "Palisades Park", and "A Casual Look". Personally, I'm grateful for each of those inclusions. Also, he talked about (and recreated!) directing Carl and Mike on how to deliver their lead vocals (on "Palisades Park" and "Blueberry Hill"). Brian's voice sounded pretty clear when he sung, "I found my thrill" (and the other random lines of songs he sung throughout the interview).
He also made it very clear that LY was a Beach Boys album even while it was still called "Brian Loves You". He talked about giving a song away here or there ("Still I Dream Of It"), but that 99% of his music and focus was on the Beach Boys.
