A performance of "Love And Mercy" with the extra verse. I wish it would've been included in 1988 released version:

For those of you who get the Decades channel, The Beach Boys are going to be on the Ed Sullivan show at 6pm eastern.

I remember them doing this at the fair in 88; really knocked me out! It was probably the only non-hit in the show that summer.

Obviously "This Whole World" was on an obscure album and very few comps, but I'm a little surprised that it wasn't featured more often in live appearances by The Beach Boys and Brian Wilson solo - years ago and more recently. I think it would've had enough recognition, though, and probably would've received strong applause. The song is too good.

It's one of the many Beach Boys songs that wasn't a hit per se, but it feels like it was; it would put it in the same category with other songs they often rotated in and out of the setlist like Please Let Me Wonder, the Warmth of the Sun, You're So Good to Me, Catch a Wave, Hushabye. Of course with those Capitol era songs they had the benefit of being not only on original hit albums but being revived in the 70's for the mega selling Endless Summer and Spirit of America. Every BB's fan over a certain age is going to know those songs.

I know This Whole World was in several C50 setlists, and was in the set at the beginning of Brian's NPP Tour in 2015. I don't think M&B have done it since the end of C50.
