I’ll bet $100 she’s out of sight for, like, 20 minutes before her “triumphant comeback.”

I’ll bet $100 she’s out of sight for, like, 20 minutes before her “triumphant comeback.” Either that, or she rebrands herself as some other personna, and when them happens, some clueless person will compare her to David Bowie. *Sigh* 2019.

The next Prince rerelease has been announced: a deluxe 1999, which makes sense as the 20th anniversary of, er, the title? (The album is from 1982, of course, making it the 37th anniversary. Not quite so natural a number to celebrate.)
It will have 35 unreleased tracks and a concert DVD from the era.

Ringo Starr's new album, What's My Name, is set to be released on October 25. I'm excited for Ringo's version of "Grow Old With Me", which is going to be released as a single. Reportedly, Ringo sings and plays drums, Paul sings and plays bass, and Jack Douglas (producer of Double Fantasy) was also involved. For those who may not know, a demo version recorded by John was released on Milk And Honey and re-released with orchestration by George Martin on John Lennon Anthology. Between these releases it was considered for the Beatles reunion. It's nice to see something come of it!

Influential underground singer-songwriter Daniel Johnston died of a heart attack. He was 58. pitchfork.com/news/daniel-johnston-dead-at-58/Johnston is probably best known for his status as a mentally ill “outsider artist” whose live shows sometimes broke down with him in tears. His songs were simple and childlike, but occasionally surprisingly memorable. There is a good documentary about him, “The Devil and Daniel Johnston.”

He was quite a character and overcame a lot of obstacles to be heard.

I hope he has a hit with it.

I heard a bit of a sound byte from a song called Hero Ground Zero they've been testing on the road. Not bad. I was actually a pretty big fan of their 2006 Endless Wire album. It might not be saying much, but it's easily my favorite post Moon release. And might be my favorite post Quadrophenia album.

Mike and Bruce's Beach Boys were to play Sammy Hagar's Beach Party next weekend with Sammy, Night Ranger, Blue Oyster Cult, and others, but the whole thing was cancelled. Apparently, the permit that was applied for back in December was denied.

The last time I saw BOC was at the beach, in Ocean City, MD headlining the first ever Bike Fest in 2011.

Shame about Hagar's concert. I've heard previous iterations of it described as really a great day or two of music with diverse bands whose only real common thread is Sammy Hagar liking the people or music involved.
