This is the Music News thread, a place to post and read what's going on in the world of music - but might not require its own separate thread.
Below is the tentative lineup for Woodstock 50 to be held on August 16,17 and 18, 2019. Do you know anybody who is going? When I first looked at the list of artists, I was kinda disappointed. Then I realized that, with the exception of a handful of acts, this festival wasn't being held for the likes of...me. It's a young person's festival. You can probably guess which groups I would like to see - Santana, Robert Plant, John Fogerty, Melanie, David Crosby, and The Zombies (I wonder if Darian S. is playing?).
I recognize a lot of names but I couldn't tell you what kind of music they play. I was slightly surprised a group like Pearl Jam is not playing, or a couple more classic rock acts, and, yes, even The Beach Boys. The lineup does say "and more", so you never know who might be added to the list. What do YOU think? Good list? Bad list? Who would you go to see?

I didn’t even know there was going to be such a thing! I’ll take a look through the lineup and comment.

Looking over it more, I'd partly dispute your assessment that "it's a young person's festival." Instead I'd say it's attempting to be everyone's festival, and as such it's nobody's festival: everyone will be picking and choosing.
A problem for this sort of thing is that we don't have many truly mega-acts anymore. The closest things we have to true current superstars are probably Beyonce and Lady Gaga. There are no rock bands even in the conversation, I don't think. But we have silo'd stars, and a lot of those are here, thrown together. Maybe there are people who will cross a lot of those boundaries and enjoy a lot of those acts--I hope so!--but I doubt it.
Among my favorites from the lineups are Courtney Barnett, Margo Price, Dawes, Earl Sweatshirt, and some classics like the Zombies, Robert Plant, and John Sebastian.

That's something I've brought up before. The only rock acts that play really big venues these days are older acts - McCartney, the Stones, Billy Joel, Metallica, etc.

Music news: the most incomprehensible pop star I can recall, Cardi B—whose appeal I honestly don’t understand in the slightest—apparently admitted in some old clip to having drugged and stolen from men.
She is responding to the negative attention by saying times were hard and she had no choice. And that the men were willing (which seems absurd by definition).
She’s also on the receiving end of a lot of online praise from people who apparently find this empowering.
What a fucking world...

She's one of many reasons I've all but given up on music having any kind of bright future.

It'll be fun watching the long deserved induction of The Zombies. And Def Leppard as well. I'll likely use the magic of DVR to skip the rest.

I've never been into the awards aspect of the show, but the performances can be pretty good sometimes. Like this classic.

Not really being a fan of his music, I honestly had no idea how good of a guitar player Prince was until I watched this on Vh1 when it aired.
