Speaking of him spouting off at the mouth, about 25 minutes or so in, he is asked about "hair metal." He goes off. "THERE WAS NO 'HAIR METAL!'" He and Rachtman both point out it was a) a term invented after the fact, and b) derogatory. Worth remembering all these years later, but in 1990, nobody said "I'm a hair metal fan." They might have said glam, but a lot of the popular hard rock bands weren't considered glam, either. Blues rock, glam metal, thrash metal, speed metal, and so on, yes. And over-categorization can get annoying. But let's at least not bow to sneering name-calling by antagonists.

Still listening to this (about 20 minutes left!), and one major takeaway is that whoever wrote the 33 1/3 on the Illusion albums did not like them. And as Bach and Rachtman say (many times) during the pod, if you don't like an album, why are you writing about it?
