Some of the 2021 East Coast dates are being pushed to 2022, like the Hershey show. It's interesting that the official website is listing "MIKE LOVE" with every show. Well, that makes me a little sad, not just that the show is postponed for another YEAR , but I was truly holding out for a 60th Anniversary Reunion concert. Of course, it is still a year away, and anything could happen, though I'm not holding my breath.

I think the fact that all of the shows on the website are currently listed as "MIKE LOVE" offers a possible glimmer of hope for a reunion.

No reference whatsoever to any beach boy reunion Fear not. There will be at least one, and probably a few, reunited concerts for the 60th. Announcements or hints will start around mid-summer, with Feel Flows, for stuff starting in the fall. I'll bet you $500.
To be clear, this isn't some kind of "I know things" post. I know nothing. But I am willing to bet a lot on it.

Yes and as much as I would love to go down to San Diego and go to Petco field it just doesn't make any sense without seeing Brian and David and Al on stage as well so I will wait and hope

No doubt. Big round number combined with a hopefully return to normalcy in 2022. I have a feeling that the next year or two will be pretty eventful.

And I think they aren't talking yet because it would lose steam if they did, the action being five or six months out. (Plus, knowing this band, you just don't want to tempt fate.)
Al said in the recently linked radio interview that the anniversary itself is in the fall, and he thought they'd be doing some shows starting around then. (I'm actually surprised that hasn't gotten more traction, btw, though maybe they've discussed it on the other boards?) If that's the case, that the fall is when everything starts rolling, then it makes sense to wait until summer to start promotions.
Considering there's product due in summer, it all actually ties together.
Now, we could say "but wouldn't a summer rollout be better for the Beach Boys?" Ideally, sure. But if a) that just isn't happening, and b) pandemic makes things less certain so early, that kind-of settles that.

A summer roll out would make sense if it were another repackaging of the hits or a career retrospective, but since the FF release is very short on the fun in the sun themes, I don't have an issue with a late July release. And, I also think there might be a bit of a "wait and see" with the COVID situation. A lot of stuff is now being scheduled for fall, but that was happening at this time last year too. Granted, we know more about how to treat this thing, and more and more are being vaccinated every day.

Also further it could create confusion about the product if they announced so called real beach boy reunion shows for later and the touring band shows for now and people might say well why am I seeing to beach boys when I can see an entire reunion show coming up. For fans that don't know the difference of course that's not a problem but it's probly still not good to set up a competition between what you're trying to sell now and the new and improved version that is going to take the stage later.

It's true. Which also calls back what Sheriff John Stone noticed and posted above: The Beach Boys' official website now lists those shows in this format:
Date Location/MIKE LOVE City, ST Tickets
It appears his band will at least to some extent be marketed differently going forward, more clearly reflecting that this is Mike Love's band. To take that step implies there is something to distinguish those shows from that will be posted on the same site at some point...

No doubt they're already hard at work compiling the eventual and inevitable "60 Big Ones" collection.

No doubt they're already hard at work compiling the eventual and inevitable "60 Big Ones" collection. David Beard of ESQ was on Tuesday's Beach Boys Talk episode before the main (musical) guest, and he speculated something like we've been suggesting here: another comp (with maybe a new song), a few shows used to create a special for later streaming. I forget whether he lumped that into the upcoming doc or whether those would be distinct (in his speculative opinion--he was clear to say he literally has no inside info).
But yeah, you know there has to be more reunion-centered product (even if they don't do shows ... which they will, assuming no tragic circumstances develop). Though really, I don't know what would differentiate a 60 Big Ones from 50 Big Ones (other than 10 more songs). Assuming they stick to that formula of basically putting together a definitive set, it would be almost entirely duplicative. If they go another route and try to make it more a deep-cuts thing, well, nobody would care or want it.

I wouldn't be shocked if it was basically a similar set of hits, maybe with a different order. Maybe, slightly different mixes (yawn). Maybe they add a solo track from the primary five BBs. After all, 50 Big Ones was released just nine years after the Sounds of Summer comp that still sells pretty well.

I agree that we can probably expect a 60 Big Ones, which would conceivably be a helluva collection, probably the best BB 2CD comp ever! However, the time restriction - 80 minutes per CD - will limit the selection process. The 50 Big Ones collection has 25 songs per CD. To add 5 songs to each CD is mathematically possible; the band has several "short" songs to choose from. But, it will eliminate some of the possible deeper, longer, over three-minute long tracks. They could go to 3 CDs but I can't see Capitol springing for the extra disc, etc.
