The Cincinnati Kid, jmayer43 and I are all fans of this band, the decidedly retro Lemon Twigs. I thought they, and maybe everyone else, would be interested to see that they were covering the Beach Boys' "This Whole World" at least in late 2023 shows. Not the greatest sound in this audience recording, but not bad, either. All cued up:

How about this cool up-tempo rendition of "In My Room" by Walter Egan and Lindsey Buckingham? With thanks to Steve Mayo down the road apiece: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Egan

Lindsey Buckingham did co-produce that album, with occasional backup vocals from Stevie Nicks.
As we know, Lindsey was a big fan of Dennis Wilson and The Beach Boys, but so was Walter Egan. I love Egan's 1978 hit single, "Magnet And Steel".

That would make sense, although there's so little online information on that album (or at least nothing I could find). Didn't Egan have his eye on Stevie at some point?

Yes, that actually started on the album before Not Shy which was 1977's Fundamental Roll. Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were involved in the production and recording of that Walter Egan album, too. Stevie was singing some background vocals and Walter became smitten. Apparently, Stevie was having problems with Lindsey and was moving on. According to Egan, they had a...relationship...for about a month. The hit single, "Magnet And Steel", was inspired by Stevie.
With studio background vocals by Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham:

This isn't a cover of Beach Boys songs, but rather a band (obviously) influenced by the Beach Boys. I thought we had a thread for that, but can't find one, so because I don't think this deserves its own, new thread, here it goes. Just this morning I learned that in 2010, a Belgian band called My Little Cheap Dictaphone released a concept album based on Brian Wilson. As far as I can recall, I never heard or heard of this band or album at the time. I saw a reference today in the pretty low-quality Far Out. I've only sampled little bits and pieces, and it doesn't seem to shoot for Wilsonesque sounds or styles, though it does have some big, orchestrated sounds and dramatic moments. In fact here is what this UK Guardian story says of the album in a 2011 story: You can hear it here: mlcd.bandcamp.com/album/the-tragic-tale-of-a-genius
