Kapitan, Scott sang lead on LHRW in Atlanta. Jeff sang backing vox. I guess Ike would handle the lead nowadays. Ike had joined by the time I saw them do it in Aug 2015, but I'm 95% sure Scott did the lead.

I wonder if Mike will have another album to download for this year's ticket buyers? Let's think of possible titles:
Mike Loves You Summer of Love Love and Mercy It's a Love Thing

The funny thing, is UTL is actually the remixed MLNW. The MLNW recordings originate primarily from the early 2000's, though many of the songs had been written as early as the 1970's. ('10,000 Years' had even been attempted during the 15BO sessions.) Anyway, these recordings are from the early 2000's and were produced by Paul Faureso. These recordings have been bootlegged quite a lot. They definitely have an early 2000's production charm, with the programmed drum breaks and soft rock sound.
UTL was an album made up remixed/re-arranged versions of these songs. But almost all of the songs that are MLNW remixes on UTL, lift the original lead vocals, but have new or augmented instrumental tracks.
I enjoy both versions. I like the (what I call) "Adult Contemporary Surf" sound of UTL. But I also dig the more laid back, acoustic gtr + drum machine sound of MLNW. To me, the mixes on the bootleg and 'semi-official' release of MLNW sound the same. But maybe with a fresh mastering job, because MLNW (23) seems a bit brighter and louder than my boot.
Anyway, I would be super excited if Mike included some kind of new or unique release with ticket sales this year. Even an EP or single would be cool. It probably wouldn't be hard to convince him to re-record Endless Summer front to back and release that haha!!!

I did listen to the "new" recordings on You Tube last summer, and thought it was pretty good, but it was disappointing, thinking Mike had an actual new album for us.

Other than the odd single - and I'm not really optimistic about that prospect - I don't think there will be any new Beach Boys' recordings including solo recordings. I'm pretty sure Brian's recording career is a wrap, Al hasn't said anything about another solo album and he'll be 82 years-old, and, well, then there's Bruce, which means no new recordings.
I am of the theory, and have posted it numerous times, that Mike's burst of creativity with his solo releases over the last decade was part of a plan or plans. I think Mike first wanted to show Brian that he (Mike) could still "do it", meaning write new songs, and that Brian could/should consider him as a co-writer for future Beach Boys' projects. I believe Mike was holding out hope for one last chance to work with Brian and write songs for a new Beach Boys' single or album. As it played out, Brian sought out other collaborators, The Beach Boys could never again pull it together to reunite post-2012, and Brian got old. I think Mike got to the point of "it's now or never". He was pushing 80 years-old. Why wait any longer? And, wait for what? Why hold onto all of the stuff in the can? Let's get it out! Thus, the flurry of solo albums.
I'm pretty sure Mike didn't do much of the grunt work on his recent solo recordings. There appear to be several people handling that. That wasn't Mike's specialty anyway. He was a singer-songwriter. I don't care for Mike's recent solo albums. I don't listen to them. I don't particularly care for the production, and Mike's voice/vocals on those solo albums - which is basically what I enjoyed about his work with The Beach Boys - have lost their appeal. In March, Mike Love will be 83 years-old. We know Mike continues to enjoy touring and performing, but does an 83 year-old Mike Love want to be a solo recording artist?

I think you're correct. There won't be any significant new music from the band or the band members. (Archival and compilations, obviously, yes. There will be more of that for decades to come.) I could imagine the occasional odd track here or there, maybe. A charity project, a single song to accompany an archival release, etc. But I would not even bet on that, necessarily. It's just that I could imagine that. But anything significant--a new EP, a new album--is probably a pipe dream at this point.

It’s since been reported/speculated that he was recording his contribution for the new Glen Campbell album, which is a “reimagined” version of his last album. Brian is featured on the track, “Strong”.

Maybe he'll record a song for Melinda. Or maybe this will be his last project. But I don't think any of us expected him to show up at a recording studio last October, yet he did.

I forget, did we ever get even a tentative release date for the documentary? What’s the latest on that project?
