Summer in Paradise actually has wonderful cover art. Too bad the music inside wasn't up to that standard. I really disagree on that one. You are the one person that LOVES Summer of Love and Still Surfin"?

I think the cover of SIP is decent, although it reminds me more of a poster they'd sell at the Troll Book Fair than an album cover.
But, The Beach Boys catalog isn't exactly full of the types of album covers you'd want to frame and hang up in your media room.

When I think of a possible album cover for an album called Summer In Paradise, a scene of the ocean, the sun/sunset, waves, sand, a lighthouse, and maybe a sailboat or a distant surfer comes to mind. Then you think, well, you don't want to go that route AGAIN. But when you think about it, the group never really did do that, meaning just an ocean/beach landscape.

I believe we were on B.E., but it's been a while. Shall we move on to someone else's list? kds?

Your top two rows, while not identical to mine at all, I can't really argue strongly with: I really like all those albums, though in different order and not all in the same grade categories.
The first one you list that I think is way too high is Surfin USA at the front of the Bs. That seems way too high in my opinion, and honestly it keeps going that way (to a lesser degree) for several albums, until you hit the Friends through CATP stretch (all of which I'd move up some).
Clearly we disagree on Love You, as we know well.

I don't think this is my most recent one, where I made an attempt to rank them.

Ah, damnit. Thanks.
That's actually closer to what I'd say, myself. Now I'd just say in that B line, Shut Down and (especially) Xmas are too high, and CATP is too low.
It pains me to say it, but I haven't many criticisms. I was hoping to really drum up some controversy by a scathing review.

As for Christmas, despite my quibbles over the song order, I enjoy it very much, and I know I'm overall a bigger fan of Christmas music than you. CATP was a tough one to rank because, while I enjoy the album, I don't enjoy it as much as the other early 70s albums. I love Hold On Dear Brother and All This is That. I like Marcella and Make it Good. The other half of the album hits me as OK (if Cuddle Up were two minutes shorter, I'd like it more), which makes it one of those Whole > Sum (Parts) albums for me, which I happen to enjoy less than Sunflower and Friends. And, yeah, on Love You. Other than The Night Was So Young and Mona, I really do not like the album. I can enjoy SIP on like a Police Academy 5 level, where I know there's no merit, and it's weak compared to everything else, but it's got some mindless enjoyment. I think I like maybe nine tracks on that album. Granted, neither are great, or probably even "very good" unlike TNWSY and Mona.

@kapitan, here's my most recent. kds - How can you place Wild Honey - not only in the "C" tier - but AFTER CATP?

@kapitan, here's my most recent. kds - How can you place Wild Honey - not only in the "C" tier - but AFTER CATP? Simple answer, I think CATP is a better album. I tend not to think Wild Honey is an strong an album as a lot of fans. It's alright, i like Darlin (of course), Country Air, Let the Wind Blow, Aren't You Glad, and the cover of I Was Made to Love Her. I much prefer the live version of the title track to the studio cut. But, to me, I think I put it in C Tier for my perceived lack of truly great songs, with some weaker material on the back end like Mama Says and Boogaloo.

Heck - I have I Was Made to Love Her at #15 (and Darlin' at #9). I don't think CATP has any truly great songs. I think it's a muddy mess. I did have Cuddle Up at #41 and All This Is That at #52 and that is it. Guess we both have our own opinions or this place would be boring. I won't even go into Friends or 20/20. I know - they are a mood for me. A mood I enjoy alot - but not everyone's cup of tea. At least those made your B tier - so I respect that.
