The Ravens have lost all of their running backs. First JK Dobbins, then Justice Hill. Now, Gus Edwards goes down an ACL tear.
Oh, and so did shutdown cornerback Marcus Peters.
Ugh.

Looks like the Ravens signed another back to fill in, Latavius Murray. He's a former Viking, so I have seen him a decent amount. Good, strong runner. But he's also a bigger back--6'3"!-- and a little upright, which isn't always great as he gets stood up without leverage. But he's strong and he's got a little more burst than you'd guess for such a big guy. (Or at least did a few years ago.)

So, we're going to have a motley crew of RBs who hopefully have chips on their shoulders and have something to prove.

Seems like the AFC North might be the Browns to lose this year.

That just sounds weird. I don't think they've made the playoffs in consecutive years since Marty Schottenheimer was HC.

The mood here is really pessimistic for the Vikings. I don't think it's so much the winless preseason (though that didn't help) as a sense that Coach Zimmer and GM Spielman aren't really on the same page, based on various interpretations of comments from each. Beyond that, Zimmer seems fed up with his team already--especially the QBs--over the vaccine stuff.
Many of the stories in our local media every day have been things like "Are they really going to be THAT bad?" or "It's not necessarily hopeless," or "how long will Zimmer last?" In other words, you don't sense a positive mood from beat writers, either.
That said, probably more than the Twins, Wolves, Wild, Gophers, or Lynx, this is a Vikings town (and state). If they get a few wins and look good doing it, it'll be Super Bowl talk again before you know it!

OK, I just finished making my Fantasy Football picks, so I'm ready to turn on the TV and watch the Eagles - Falcons game, featuring TWO new head coaches.
Kapitan, I just spent a lot of money on Dalvin Cook. I figured that I'd play him while he's healthy and not beat up.
kds, I'm curious to see what Latavius Murray and Le'Veon Bell will do this year with The Ravens.

As am I. In their history, the Ravens offense has always been dependent on a strong ground game. So, I'll feel a lot better about this season if these guys, or even one of them, can step up.
It always feels weird opening the season on Monday Night.

Having worked O.T. yesterday, I decided to take it easy today and watch NFL games all day. Besides, I joined a Fantasy league so it makes sense to watch a few games, right?
Just about all my favorite teams did well and won--Seattle, LA Rams, KC (who just squeaked by, didn't they?)--except my all time favorite Green Bay Packers! They got hammered by the Saints 3-38. What happened there? Ouch!
At the end of the day though, I aced my first round in the Fantasy.

I wasn't able to catch most of the game, but the Bengals nearly blew a game they should have easily won. Everyone was going nuts over the terrible decision to go for it on 4th and 1 at our own 30 up by 14. Luckily, the Vikings had a ton of penalties and when it seemed like they were going to win, they coughed up the ball and then Burrow threw a beautiful pass downfield to get us in field goal position. I'm looking forward to the Bears next week as they looked pretty terrible last night.

I didn't have a dog in that fight, but I'm happy for Joe Burrows. I was worried that his serous knee injury could permanently affect a very promising career, but from the highlights I saw, he appeared pretty good.
