The Ravens just won their 19th straight preseason game. To put things in perspective, this streak began in 2015. We've won one playoff off in this time. Well I didn’t know that! They must have a great second team! Wow! The things you learn on a Beach Boys message board. Crazy!

They must have a great second team! Wow! The things you learn on a Beach Boys message board. Crazy! Apparently, we tied the NFL record last night. So, if we beat DC on Saturday night, we'll own the longest preseason win streak in league history. Yay? Meanwhile, our baseball team just lost their 18th straight regular season game.

Vikings 0-2 in the preseason. Granted, several starters have yet to play, and those who have, haven't played much. But it ain't pretty so far.
And can I call 'em, or what!? After having held out Anthony Barr for practices, first saying there was nothing wrong at all, then going so far as "he's got something he's dealing with," now Coach Zimmer says his health "is a little concern." Just like with Danielle Hunter last season, little by little, the non-injury just extends and expands... Hunter missed the season last year. Hopefully that won't be the case with Barr.
Honestly sometimes I wonder why media doesn't press teams on their evolving explanations. I suppose it's because sports media isn't really journalism, it's more a partnership in the overall spectacle.
This morning a story says Barr may not be healthy by the season opener. Just amazing dishonesty/secrecy from the team about this, which I am more and more understanding to be normal. He started as not even injured, and somehow that little something he was dealing with has become what will be more than a month-long injury that could cost games.

I hadn't realized the Vikes are facing carllove's Chiefs Friday night in the preseason finale. The Vikings are expected to play their starters at least part of the game ... with numerous exceptions. NOT playing will be: - our top two running backs (Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison) - our top two wide receivers (Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen) - our presumptive starting left tackle (Christian Darrisaw) - two-thirds of our starting secondary (Patrick Peterson, Harrison Smith, Xavier Woods) - our top defensive lineman (Danielle Hunter) - arguably our top linebacker (Anthony Barr)
So yeah, "our starters" are playing ... minus 41% of our starters, and minus one top backup.

Well, the talk in Kansas City was that Patrick Mahomes and the starters would play the entire first half, but that didn’t happen, thank goodness. No one thought that was a good idea. He did play the first quarter, with two touchdown passes. Sorry Kapitan. It’s not looking good for the Vikings.
My husband made wings for the game, and they were ready just after my Feel Flows box set arrived, so I had to wait to open it until my hands were clean. The wings were worth it though.
Thank you Vikings for keeping Patrick Mahomes healthy for week one of the regular season. No worries, Kapitan. I won’t judge your team based on their pre-season performance.

I keep reminding myself it's only preseason... Though with reportedly the lowest vaccination rate in the entire league and our starting (and only, really) QB famously among the unvaxxed, I am not exactly confident. And that's before taking into consideration the numerous actual football questions to be answered.

Well Kapitan, your Vikings put a scare into my Chiefs there at the end! Made for a good game. Still - It’s only pre-season! I’m stoked for the regular season. The Chiefs have a chip on their shoulder after the Super Bowl. I always wonder how they would have done had that Britt Reid disaster not happened so close to the game. It was a real downer for a city that was on such a high before that.

I think the Ravens are 90% vaxxed, but I've not heard if Lamar got it. I don't like the idea of possibly losing him, considering we have a tough schedule.

Irv Smith Jr., our third-year TE who was expected to have a breakout season with Kyle Rudolph no longer a Viking, is having knee surgery to repair a meniscus injury. He may miss the start of the season.
Our #2 TE, Tyler Conklin, hasn't played all preseason due to hamstring issues.

The Patriots cut Cam Newton! I'm not shocked Mac Jones beat him out, but I am surprised they released him:

Among the Vikings cuts were proven return man and third-string tailback Ameer Abdullah, newly re-signed DE Everson Griffen, last year's starting guard (every game) Dakota Dozier, backup QB (and the only vaxxed one in the bunch) Jake Browning, supposedly promising young DE Hercules Mata'afa, and others.
(Griffen, at least, is reportedly going to be brought back; this was a "procedural move." I wonder whether he knew it was coming when he signed, uh, LAST WEEK.)
Any surprising cuts on your teams?

I think the biggest surprises for the Ravens are the cuts of DB Anthony Levine and LB Purnell McPhee. Although, from what I hear, it's likely they might both be brought back.

Our #2 TE, Tyler Conklin, hasn't played all preseason due to hamstring issues.
News reports indicate Smith may well have a 4-5 month recovery period and is likely to miss the entire season. The Vikings traded for the Jets' TE Chris Herndon to help fill the gap. Bet they wish they'd hung on to Kyle Rudolph now...
