I didn't have a dog in that fight, but I'm happy for Joe Burrows. I was worried that his serous knee injury could permanently affect a very promising career, but from the highlights I saw, he appeared pretty good. Absolutely. It's remarkable how medical capabilities have improved so much in my lifetime. When I was a kid, a torn ACL was serious--as in, career threatening. Burrows had what, torn ACL, MCL, PCL and meniscus? That he is playing less than a year later is remarkable. Or look to Teddy Bridgewater, who basically shattered his knee in addition to all the torn ligaments. It took him a while, but he led Denver to a win yesterday.

Having worked O.T. yesterday, I decided to take it easy today and watch NFL games all day. Besides, I joined a Fantasy league so it makes sense to watch a few games, right? Just about all my favorite teams did well and won--Seattle, LA Rams, KC (who just squeaked by, didn't they?)--except my all time favorite Green Bay Packers! They got hammered by the Saints 3-38. What happened there? Ouch! At the end of the day though, I aced my first round in the Fantasy. Congrats sockit on your good first week in your fantasy league. Yes, Kansas City just squeaked by. Thank goodness the Brown's had some turnovers, or the game easily would have gone the other way. Looks like a repeat of last year. Too many games that give me a heart attack. I'd like to see a few blow outs this year! I want to see the defense from the fourth quarter, played for an entire game. Those first three quarters were awful.

Last year was pretty disastrous for me in the Fantasy. In the first half of the season I worked my way up into the top 5, and things were looking pretty good. Then I lost every remaining week and ended the season on the bottom. I was active with my roster the whole time, but I could not catch a break!

Well, not a good start in Vegas last night for the Ravens. They had a lot of chances to win, but couldn't finish, and wound up losing in OT 33-27.
Oh well.

I didn't watch that game; just surfed through it a few times. Someone told me today at work that the Ravens lost the same game twice. Not sure exactly what that meant.

Yes, once the game went to OT, the Raiders threw what appeared to be a game winning touchdown, but after review, the receiver was rightfully ruled down at the one yard line. A couple plays later, Derrick Carr threw a fluky interception to give the ball back to Baltimore. Unfortunately, Lamar Jackson lost a fumble at midfield to give the ball back to Vegas, and two plays later they scored the real game winning TD.

So all the Chiefs had to do was not fumble and make the field goal. Great game though. Glad kds got to enjoy it. Heartbroken, but I trust in Mahomes. We just need some run defense. The season is long and still think the Chiefs can make another Super Bowl this year.

Outscored by 4 points through two games, the Vikings now sit 0-2. I checked in yesterday after lunch to see them up 20-7 and thought, OK, good enough. I didn't watch and only found out yesterday evening that they managed to blow it in classic Vikings style.
There are three home games next on the slate. I'm neither confident nor overly pessimistic about it, but I'll say this: if they don't win two of those three, I think Mike Zimmer's job is in serious jeopardy.
On the positive side, I guess it's nice to have freed up autumn's Sunday afternoons.

After the Ravens big win last night, every AFC North team has a 1-1 record, and we're hitting a "soft" spot in the schedule with games in Detroit and in Denver before coming home for a Monday Night Football game against Indy.

I went out last night with my fellow Fantasy Leaguers for a burger and a few brews, and watched the Texans/Panthers game. It was a bit of a snorer, but Cooks gained me some substantial points.

After letting a 16-7 4th quarter lead disappear with just over a minute left in Detroit, it looked like the Ravens were about to have a dreaded "let down" game after beating KC Sunday night. The Ravens really didn't play well. Marquise Brown had three drops. Justin Tucker missed an early field goal. The tackling was poor. Lamar threw a bad INT in the 4th.
But...after hitting Sammy Watkins to convert a 4th and 19, the Ravens won on the longest FG in NFL history - a 66 yarder from Tucker.

The Ravens actually had a relatively easy win in Denver yesterday. Granted, it took a little while for the offense to get going, and they did trail 7-0 in the 2nd quarter, but compared to the season's previous three games, the 23-7 win was a cakewalk.
It did help that Drew Lock came into the game to replace an injured Teddy Bridgewater. Bridgewater's not a world beater by any stretch, but Lock is just not an NFL caliber starting QB.

I am fully expecting the heat to be turned up on Mike Zimmer after that loss yesterday. Next game is theoretically a gimme with Detroit at home, but then at Carolina, Dallas, and at Baltimore? Oof. Even if we win against Detroit, if we finish that stretch 2-7, you have to think we're going coach-shopping.
Injuries have played a part in things, to be sure. Tight end, linebacker, tailback, offensive line ... but even so. There is sufficient talent on the field to win games, but they just aren't playing well. Not at all.
The positive side is, I might have gotten my Sundays back. Yesterday I quit watching long before the game was over, feeling that nauseating, slow-rolling dread. I'm not going to bother prioritizing the Vikings if that's how they're going to play. It'll be checking in when I'm free and hanging around if they're playing well, but not really worrying about it either way.

The Ravens are lucky to be 3-1 with our injuries. We're now down to our third string left tackle.
