I've been searching for a Little Richard video from his comeback in the late 80's early 90's that I'm SURE used to get played on MuchMusic (and so I assume on MTV as well). I can't for the life of me remember what the song was, but the video shows him wearing one of his signature flamboyant suits, playing at his piano and singing, in an empty white room. I don't think it was a new song, but a remake of one of his classics, maybe a medley. I can't find it anywhere, and it's driving me bananas. Does anyone else remember this? Is this it?

Nope, that's not it. Gotta love the "great gosh a-mighty" moment at 1:49 though, LOL.

Now this was recorded at "The White Room": If this isn't it, bb, I'll keep looking! I like a mystery.

Rest in peace, Phil May of The Pretty Things. Initially billed as "hairier than the Stones", the PTs exploded onto the UK pop scene in May 1964 with "Rosalyn": en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_May_(singer)

I have seen it, it was on youtube. I think there were several songs - Keep A-Knockin', Bama-Lama, Bama-Loo..maybe a couple others.

I meant to mention yesterday, legendary jazz drummer Jimmy Cobb died of lung cancer on Sunday. He was 91.
Cobb most notably played with Miles Davis for the absolutely seminal Kind of Blue. He also played on several Davis albums around the late 50s and early 60s, as well as with Cannonball Adderly, Nat Adderly, John Coltrane, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, Curtis Fuller, Wes Montgomery, and many others.
When I think of his drumming, I think "classy." Subtle, unobtrusive, and always right for the moment.

R.I.P. Dame Vera Lynn. Talk about an icon, not just during WWII but for always. Most curious. I posted RIPs for her at two other sites and two Americans commented that they'd never heard of her! This is quite unthinkable in the UK, where Dame Vera is a household name. You might almost say that she and Winston Churchill were the two pillars of moral support in the UK during the dark days of WWII.

I had never heard of her until hearing a remembrance yesterday morning on the radio. Ah well. That's the way it is, then. Mind you, there must be untold thousands of famous Americans I've never heard of!
