I also wonder if Mike and Bruce Beach Boys concerts might be a tougher sell in the winter time. For better or for worse, to most US audiences, The Beach Boys are a summertime band.
I'm glad you enjoyed the show. I'll have to go on YouTube to check out Brian E doing Don't Worry Baby. Jeff Foskett was still in the group at all the M&B shows I attended.
I think Christian does an admiral job with God Only Knows. His vocals are somewhat reminiscent of Carl's.
I'll admit, I could do without the Mike solo songs. I wonder if This Too Shall Pass will be dropped when COVID is declared an endemic.

I also agree that Christian doesn't deserve some of the criticism he has received for his vocals on "God Only Knows".

And, that's extremely unfair IMO. But, fans can be unfair at times. I'm actually glad they went back to doing live vocals for God Only Knows. I thought the Carl video tribute was pretty cool for C50, but I think it should've only been used then.

There might have been 50 or so in attendance who would have even recognized Carl on a video, anyway. Yeah - no one can sing that song like Carl, but it’s still a beautiful song that is great to hear live.

At some of the shows I've attended, the crowd had very little reaction to some deeper cuts like All This is That. I really think that's why they dropped All I Wanna Do at a Baltimore show I attended in 2016. A poster on SSMB snagged a setlist from that night, and it was there, but wasn't played.

So here is what I don’t get. You have a band who arguably has the deepest catalogue of any band performing, and they play more covers than songs from any one of their own albums. You also get two Mike solo songs at each concert. If they are going to do that - why can’t Bruce perform a song that he actually won a Grammy for writing? Why not drop some of the covers and actually indulge some of their most loyal fans with a performance of “All I Wanna Do” or “This Whole World”?

To be fair, setlist.fm lumps Sloop John B, Barbara Ann, and Do You Wanna Dance in with the covers.
But, I do agree with the overall point, especially those 12 Sides of Summer songs. If I buy a ticket to see The Beach Boys, I don't want to watch them cover The Ramones.

I also have to admit that “California Sun” (which they performed - I just didn’t mention it) was a great cover, sounded wonderful and fit right in with the general vibe of that “beachy” portion of the set. I have more of a problem with the big waste of time with the whole Mike Love “look how cool I am -I hung out with George Harrison and wrote a song about it” portion of set two. I don’t want to hear The Beach Boys cover a Beatles song either. Ten minutes between the whole Mike Love story/video, “Pisces Brothers” and “Here Comes the Sun”, that could have been better used.

You've certainly earned some BB fan stripes after sitting through the momentum killing Pisces Brothers.

I have a beef with setlist.fm listing songs that were hits for a group being called covers. It gets ridiculous. When Rick Nelson sang "Rave On", everybody thought "Buddy Holly", but setlist.fm lists it as a "Sonny West cover". Who the heck is Sonny West? One of Elvis' bodyguards? I have no problem with Mike including a few cover tunes in his show, though. I was very impressed with the show last summer, including several "Feel Flows" songs - which are apparently MIA now. I don't mind hearing some of Mike's solo stuff - but we've covered that ground before. Maybe Brian and Al should tour as the Beach Boys instead of Mike, because Brian doesn't do ANY of his solo songs except "Love and Mercy".

Yeah, we had that song (though I believe a different version--definitely not that video) posted somewhere around here not too long ago. Maybe Mike and Bruce are ramping up for Stars & Stripes Vol. 2.
(Gotta say, I really dislike that kind of "country" music.)

Here it is, I knew I'd seen something about it. Emdeeh posted about it.

Stars and Stripes Vol 2 - The Bro Country edition. Bro Country might be the worst thing to happen to music since nu metal.
