While I'd certainly rather hear Beach Boys songs, I've never had a big issue with Mike performing solo songs. The crowds really get into California Sun and Rockaway Beach every time I go. I'm also not sure how many artists perform more songs than the Beach Boys, maybe Paul McCartney? Checking the Rolling Stones, they don't even reach 20 songs per show. My girlfriend got me tickets as a Christmas present to see them in Louisville this weekend, so I'll be sure to report back how the crowd reacts to Mike's songs. I'm really looking forward to it as the Palace might be my favorite concert venue.

In fairness, most BB songs are very short. So, the Stones could play the same length of time, timewise, but with longer songs like You Can't Always Get What You Want, Can You Hear Me Knocking, or Gimmie Shelter, there's room for fewer songs than a BB setlist.
In my experience, Mike's solo songs have received lukewarm, polite responses from the audience.

It's worth noting that the two The Cincinnati Kid named aren't even Mike Love songs, they're classics that he covered. That's also something the Beach Boys have done forever, both on record and in concert. So I wonder whether audience members even differentiate those songs from "Little Old Lady From Pasadena," "Come Go With Me," "Runaway," "Surf City," or "Rock and Roll Music."
Most of Love's originals from the past 30-something years don't really compare to those kinds of songs in terms of quality.

He's doing the same with Jingle Bell Rock now, a classic that he'd already covered once, and appears again on Reason for the Season. Not surprisingly, that was received far better at the show I attended than Finally It's Christmas, Celestial Celebration, Reason for the Season, and Must Be Christmas.

I haven't paid much attention to what the crowd is doing during Pisces Brothers, for example. It seems to be received well, but again, my focus was on the song and the performers. And the point some here are making was the same point some were making back in the 70's and 80's - the new songs, less popular songs don't get the same response as the hits from 62-66. As much as I love hearing the guys do Feel Flows, It's About Time, Add Some Music or All I Wanna Do, they're not the songs 75% of the audience is there to hear. I'm not sure what hits have been omitted from the concerts to make room for Mike solo songs - I think about the setlists they've had the last 3 times....Little Honda. Check. Hawaii. Check. You're So Good to Me. Check. Those were not hits of the proportion of Good Vibrations, Rhonda, Fun Fun Fun or Kokomo, but they've been playing them. "Oh, but they didn't do "Little Girl I Once Knew". They didn't do "Sail on Sailor". They didn't do "Good Timin". I learned very early on that there's always going to be some favorite songs left out. The first time I saw the Kinks, they didn't do "Tired of Waiting For You" - and it was my favorite song of theirs at the time. I think I saw them 4 times before they finally dusted that one off. It's a strange thing, but I have noticed a lot of bands refuse to perform some of their best known songs - it's like they get tired of them or something. I've seen the Robert Cray band several times, and not once have they ever done "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" - and that song was all over radio and VH1 back in the late 80's. They always did "Smoking Gun" and "Right Next Door" but never DBAOTD. So I've learned to just go and enjoy the show and not worry if certain songs were left out. If the Beach Boys were to play EVERY fan favorite, they'd be onstage for 6 hours.
