According to Wikipedia, The Gamblers recorded "Moon Dawg" in 1959; it was released in February 1960. It is considered by some to be the first "surf rock" record. Some interesting Beach Boys' connections - Nick Venet got a "Arranged and Directed By" credit (he also did the "howls"), and Bruce Johnston played the piano. So, that might explain how "Moon Dawg" ended up, or at least was suggested, for Surfin' Safari.

As goofy as this is, you have to possess some talent to make those faces. My face hurts and I get a headache just watching it!

Poking around late at night, I bumped into this highly entertaining outing by Sweden's Viagra Boys featuring Amy Taylor duetting with the lead singer, the seriously un-Swedish-sounding Sebastian Murphy:

I have a bit of an obsession with Harpo Marx. My favorite Marx Brother and a real hottie. This video gives me all kinds of feels. Too bad he passed away when I was about two.

While I'm not a fan of opera, one of my favorite singers of Christmas music is Mario Lanza. In 1951, Mario recorded a song by Harpo Marx and lyricist, Gerda Bellenson, called "Guardian Angels". I thought I would share it with you:

One of my favorite bands - Slade with the incomparable Noddy Holder on lead vocals. It was called glitter rock or glam rock. Meh. I called it rock & roll!
Come on feel the noise, girls grab your boys, we get wild, wild, wild!
