I'm constantly discovering new music on YouTube that I like when I hear it but generally never return to, let alone look for more from that act. This [was] the title track from Дорогой Человек (2021) by the Smolensk band Permsky Kray:

Several weeks later, this is Stockholm-based producer Robin Smeds Mattila aka Human Rays with "Between The Hours" from his 2016 album A Tension. According to the YT blurb, "'Between The Hours' places spindly, woody beats beneath a dramatic sweep of synthetic strings, ebbing and flowing like Fripp & Eno's monumental 'An Index Of Metals'." Which is what I was looking for (and not finding) when I bumped into this suitably elegiac offering:

Neat thread jk bro.🤜🤛 This cool video been recommended by YT & then I got sit playing the channel's videos. The channel "Pianote". Played piano few years in musical school & still can sight read, got synths. It's really useful AND fun channel, its teacher is super nice & smiley lady Lisa Witt who explains everything really-really well. I thought by accent she's American but in fact she's Canadian. Weird, figured Canadians speak differently, like British. Anyhoo, here's the vid that began subscription: Glad this new channel is of help to you (and fun to watch). I remember you linked a piece at Smiley that you wanted identifying and played it on synth. Most impressive but unfortunately no one could help you.

Yes, still wish to ID it. Such fun Christmas'y song, asked few FB'ers even - they didn't recognize it too.😑 Did you see this Dutch girl, jk? She been recommended by YT - Romee Dussenbroek (name reads, she explained, "roMAY"). Last year she's diagnosed with cancer, she got treatment but...it didn't work. This year new doctor gave her different, tougher treatment plan & Pet scan displayed the tumor got very tiny, recent video she got her million stem cells back (1st they took everything out, then put cells to freezer)/entire body reboot. She asked people to share around the videos to raise cancer awareness, besides she wishes to get YT's silver plaque (which YT channels get if they reach 100k subscribers). Right now, she's at 79.3k subscribers. 2 things that impress about Romee other than her possessing strength: 1) she speaks PERFECT English (w/ American accent to boot); 2) she finished her thesis amid chemo treatments/fatigue/inconveniences whilst staying in hospital & got degree. Regarding English, somebody in comments replied that people in Netherlands speak fluent English due to these reasons: 1) it's taught in schools 2) Dutch people watch/raised at U.S. films & TV series. Can you verify it? Very very moving -- and uplifting, for sure. As for English spoken by Dutch people, it varies tremendously. Some do speak it fluently, sounding as if they came from the UK (or the US). Often the English taught in schools is American English, which is fine but a little one-sided -- and not always accurate. My daughter once complained that her English teacher called the islands off the Scottish coast The Hee-Brides! (Hebrides should be pronounced "heb-rid-ease".) And of course, not everything people say in films is what one would say in real life, so that aspect does help but only to a degree. I'd say the best way for a Dutch person to learn English is to spend time in the UK (or the US).

Can’t believe I haven’t seen this before. My God he was talented! So, so good! I’ve been obsessed with Jeff Buckley since I first heard him back in the mid 90’s. And then, he was gone 😢

As Rick Beato concludes, "you can hate U2, but not this song!"

Not everything Krzysztof Utbult uploads appeals to me -- it can get a bit samey -- but today's random discovery (uploaded today) is pretty cool. He describes Indice de Inviernos as a "Post-punk/Coldwave/Darkwave act from Málaga, Spain". This [was] "Cristal":

This is a fascinating late-night outing by The Baron Von Ohlen Quartet featuring Mary Ann Moss. "It Only Happens Everytime" is track three on side one of The Baron (1973). And that's about all the information I can find... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Von_Ohlen

YouTube fed me these two Sovietwave gems last night:
According to commenter pioneerz450 elsewhere on YT, "The term many are looking for is Anemoia, nostalgia for an era you've never known or lived in..."

Most stuff uploaded by the tireless Krzysztof Utbult sounds the same to me (I believe I've said this before). Now and again something jumps out, such as this one [since removed] called "Прятки" (hide and seek). Motto are a "Post-punk / New Wave act from St. Petersburg, Russia". (We visited Pete in late 2019 and had a wonderful time there.)

Liquid Liquid is a name I'd heard before but never really paid much attention to. Ol' Tubey fed me this jaunty outing last night. Regrettably I have no idea what it [was] called -- the YT blurb couldn't be more confusing. No matter -- I intend to explore their music more fully. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid_Liquid

This seriously random video made me laugh. The artists' names are a scream -- Valentino Khan & Alison Wonderland.

Came across this nice and fairly recent interview with Gordon Lightfoot. It's good to see him healthy and happy.
