Apparently, so is the Sheriff's. Cheer up boys, it's Friday! Like kds, I also think the Feel Flows boxed set will come out. Memorial Day? Gone. 4th Of July? Gone. Labor Day? Gone. Now, I guess the best bet is Thanksgiving or Christmas. If what Edelson said is true, that the set is done and PACKAGED, as stupid as The Beach Boys are, I can't see them scrapping all of that product, and forfeiting the $$$$$$ it would bring, no matter how little.
Now, with this new Mike Love interview, I'm a little worried about C60. I hope Mike was just spewing out some stuff to spice up an interview. What worries me is that Melin...er...Brian might agree to it, because Brian experimented with the duet thing on Stars & Stripes, Gettin' In Over My Head, the aborted Jeff Beck project, and most recently with No Pier Pressure. He/they won't even have to meet or make contact with the guest artists (though they might for a photo/video op). No sweat, right? It's too easy.
Logically, it would make sense for Melin.........I mean Brian Wilson to agree to a reunion. They've gone as far as they can go with the Brian Wilson brand. His albums have sold OK, thanks largely in part to diehard fans. But, now, it's been half a decade since he's put out an album, and he's been playing small venues on Beach Boys' greatest hits and Pet Sounds the last five years. Now, of course, just because it's the most logical move never means that's what's going to happen.

I'm back home so my glass will be fully full soon ... and then refilled, and refilled, etc.!
Bruno Mars: Mike and Bruce are really fascinated with him, aren't they!? It's odd.
I'm in the camp of saying the FF box will come. When? Physical or not? With something (causing issues) omitted? Who knows? But something is going to come out; it's just too much work and presumably money put into it for some stupid credits dispute or whatever to make it disappear.
A new album of originals for C60? I'll bet my hat that's not going to happen. (But then again, I'm not wearing a hat.)

Maybe Mike and Bruce figure since they never got to do a collaboration with Michael Jackson, they can just go with the store brand version. I still think the delay is somehow related to COVID. Maybe they don't have the resources to manufacture and distribute box sets at the moment. I think a far more likely scenario for C60 is another tour (perhaps a "Farewell" Tour). In this day and age, you really don't need an album to promote a tour anymore.

I don't think the guys will do anything more rigorous than a few shows or a brief residency somewhere, and quite possibly not even that. I think some rerelease with limited "fresh" (old) material a la the "Add Some Music" re-recording Bruce talked about is honestly the most likely.
Frankly it seems like Brian ages five years every year. It's hard to imagine him doing real tours, even a la C50, again. And who knows whether or when the public will be able to attend, or comfortable attending, big shows like that? A tour along those lines would require quite a bit of planning and thus lead time. And right now we have no idea when real concerts will happen again.

I don't forsee another 73 date world tour. But, I could see a 25-30 date US Tour, maybe with a couple UK dates (probably with a bigger and better setlist per usual). Brian's vocals have deteriorated very noticeably over the last five years, but at a Beach Boys show, he does fewer leads. Maybe I'm a cock-eyed optimist, but I think we'll be back to full concerts by 2022.

Some agreeing and disagreeing, but mostly agreeing... And, at the risk of this thread turning into the C60 thread, but who cares...
I also think the delay in Feel Flows, if there is indeed a delay (I STILL think somebody specifically mentioned a fall release) has to do with the pandemic.
I am really bummed to hear Mike mention that Beach Boys/various artists album for C60. I can just hear it in my head; I'll bet I could come pretty close to the tracklist, too. I think I would rather just hear a tribute album without the guys' voices. I'm telling you, Mike mentioned this before; he doesn't forget ideas; this idea would solve a lot of...potential problems...for a dicey C60 reunion. I agree on Brian's fragility (is that a word?). I did not like how he looked on those recent appearances in his home at the piano. I can't see him playing one of those marathon 2 1/2 hour sets like he did for C50. As I think I mentioned on another thread, maybe he could come out later, maybe after the intermission. Yes, I'm getting ahead of myself by even talking about a reunion show. Kapitan makes a good point. It's not a given if and when a live concert will even happen because of the pandemic. Forget about Mike and Bruce playing these recent concerts. I can't see Brian's handlers taking any chances with his health and I wouldn't blame them one bit.

I can't see Brian's handlers taking any chances with his health and I wouldn't blame them one bit. My dad is 76, which is younger than any of the principals except David. He hasn't even been to church in-person since March. I think as long as the pandemic is a legitimate concern, putting those guys on a tour is borderline criminal, to say nothing of the risks the audience would face (many of whom are no spring chickens either, even if you're of the belief that young people are relatively safe).
Things would have to improve pretty dramatically, pretty quickly. So far there is no evidence of that.

Having Brian do half a show makes sense. As I recall, the first half of most of the C50 shows were made up of mostly surf / car songs that Brian doesn't sing lead on. Any songs on which he does sing (ie. Surfer Girl) can just be moved to the second set.

I see where you guys are coming from on that, but I also would hate for it to turn into the early 80s kind of situation where he is wheeled out for a handful of songs and audible on Sloop John B and the bridge of Surfer Girl and not much else. If the group can't really pull their weight and even shine (as they did for the most part--with ample help from a phenomenal band of singer-instrumentalists--on C50), I'd feel a little queasy about it.
Not to be negative. But as I've said, even the last show I saw of him (Pet Sounds about 3-4 years ago) left me feeling pretty uncomfortable.

If it was any other kind of concert/show I would agree with you, but due to a lot of circumstances - age, health, more of a farewell and just be happy he/they are still alive and able to show up - makes Brian's "token appearance" more acceptable. Let's be honest, this is it. And, keeping that in mind, the mind set is different. It's more of a - thank you for the music, thank you for doing this final reunion, and goodbye - than Brian and the guys sticking out a 2 1/2 hour concert. We've gradually, not totally but to a degree anyway, gotten a little more lenient and understanding with the quality control issue anyway.

Mark Linett predicted a fall release back in February.

I'm still seeing dozens of tours being rescheduled for 2021, and i think that's being overly optimistic. This thing - covid - has hung around a lot longer than we were originally being told it would; my state has a 4 phase plan, and we're only in phase 2 right now. And who knows what winter time might be like. I think 2021 is going to be largely more of the same - maybe states will start allowing small gatherings - you know, for unknown musicians like me to perform. (side note: being locked away at home this year is really affecting my mental health...yes, i am suffering from what some may call Mike Love Syndrome). i can't believe we're going to be back to superstar tours by next summer. If the Beach Boys were smart - and i'm not sure they are - they would get this box set out in time for the Christmas season; the guys could do a few tv appearances to talk about it. They don't have to leave their homes - that's how network tv is done these days, from the comfort of your home. But the Beach Boys being the Beach Boys, we'll probably get Stars and Stripes Volume 2 where we can hear Ariana Grande sing a duet of "Summer of Love" with Mike.

My only real dispute is that I don't think they'd get someone as popular as Ariana Grande. It would be some passe, third-rate Ariana Grande. (And yes, I know how bad that would be!) I'm trying to imagine who it would end up. Maybe Avril Lavigne?
