The last thing we want is yet another unwarranted attack on the legacy.

Hard to know what's really inevitable or entirely evitable, considering (as SJS said) they tend to be full of shit. But it definitely doesn't seem like it's just around the corner, as, if nothing else, Mike is usually up for marketing new product. That said, it would presumably be a quick turn if they get whatever final go-ahead is necessary, considering everything is done and ready to go. Just implementing the marketing campaign, really.
But a 60th anniversary Stars & Stripesesque project? Sugar Ray, Sebu, Peter Hollens, Nickelback, 50 Cent, and whoever else the BBs team is told are current stars performing synth pop and nu-metal versions of the hits.

Maybe Lana Del Ray will finally make her long awaited appearance on a Beach Boys related album

That's more or less what they talked about for C50, but I'd have to imagine someone would put a record deal on the table again as long as Brian would be up for it.

Maybe Lana Del Ray will finally make her long awaited appearance on a Beach Boys related album Since she's apparently soon to release a SECOND spoken word poetry album, maybe she can recite the "Beaks of Eagles" poem...or alternate verses with Frank Ocean and/or the surviving Fat Boys (who raps the others).

Please correct me if I'm wrong...For C50, I remember Mike floating the idea of re-recording old Beach Boys' songs, but I don't remember it including outside artists. Sadly, I could see this idea "winning out" for C60 because it would require the least amount of work. A producer (Joe Thomas?) could record the tracks, record the guest artists, and then all the Beach Boys have to do is come in for a day or two and add their voices.

I wouldn't even be able to process her deep poetry coming out of her very emotive voice. I'd be an emotional basket case for a month.

And not only would Brian have to be up for it (I don't think he is), but Mike would have to be down with it (and I don't think he is). He wasn't interested in a follow up to TWGMTR back then, and now he's got a bustling solo career on his hands.

Yeah, not guests artists, but re-recordings nonetheless. I do recall Mike mentioning a few times about wanting to record with Bruno Mars. I guess the idea could win out, but nobody thought TWGMTR would happen, either.

It's Friday, my glass will be full later....temporarily of course.
At the end of the day, I do fully believe that the FF box will happen. A new BB Album? Who knows? But, I'd be just fine is the last BB recording we ever get happens to be TWGMTR.

Totally fair point. My glass is just half empty this morning. Apparently, so is the Sheriff's. Cheer up boys, it's Friday! Like kds, I also think the Feel Flows boxed set will come out. Memorial Day? Gone. 4th Of July? Gone. Labor Day? Gone. Now, I guess the best bet is Thanksgiving or Christmas. If what Edelson said is true, that the set is done and PACKAGED, as stupid as The Beach Boys are, I can't see them scrapping all of that product, and forfeiting the $$$$$$ it would bring, no matter how little.
Now, with this new Mike Love interview, I'm a little worried about C60. I hope Mike was just spewing out some stuff to spice up an interview. What worries me is that Melin...er...Brian might agree to it, because Brian experimented with the duet thing on Stars & Stripes, Gettin' In Over My Head, the aborted Jeff Beck project, and most recently with No Pier Pressure. He/they won't even have to meet or make contact with the guest artists (though they might for a photo/video op). No sweat, right? It's too easy.

What I'm reading between the lines is not that the set has been manufactured and literally sitting on a shelf, but that even the packaging has been worked out and all that's needed is to manufacture it. Which is why some fans are looking at their calendars and getting antsy. That'll take some time. Now, with this new Mike Love interview, I'm a little worried about C60. I hope Mike was just spewing out some stuff to spice up an interview.
Or dodge a question.
