Out of curiosity... Does anyone like "When Girls Get Together?" I don't mean you think it's fine, or you can find something in it that's cool. I mean you actually like the song, you choose it above many others of the era, you think it should have been on an album ... that level of like.
Never been a fan of it. I think I read someone recently post they really like it, but that's literally all I can think of. Lyrics are cringy, music isn't bad, but way to slow as you mentioned before. I feel like most people would point to this song as an example of the Beach Boys being uncool, if anyone knew it existed (outside of fan circles, of course).

The lyrics are dumb for sure, but if the song were better I could overlook them. They seem to me along the lines of some of Brian's are-you-serious? lyrics--though it's a Wilson/Love collaboration, so Mike certainly didn't take the opportunity to improve upon them, if Brian is to blame. But I think of them along the lines of "Good Time," for example.
Even around 1969-70, they had to feel outdated.
But I'd still take it if the damn thing were sped up.

I can't say that I like it, but I don't dislike it either. I can sit through it if I have to, and have, especially in 1980. I think the melody isn't bad; that's a compliment I guess. I kind of like the lyrics; they're cute; I think I get what they were going for. I always thought that Brian and Mike were trying to write a different kind of boy/girl song, something that could be considered a little arty. I think they were going for something more sophisticated than the more juvenile early/mid-60's girl/boy songs. Obviously that doesn't make it better. If there is one album it would've fit on it would've been Sunflower. I can't hear it on any other BB albums. Maybe 15 Big Ones or Love You, but definitely NOT Keepin' The Summer Alive. Was it Bruce who pushed for its inclusion? It seems like a move he would make...

Yes, I do. And, it still might make my additional album that I'm working on! I honestly find it a little bizarre how strong the consensus is against it. The only points I understand are that the lyrics are imperfect, but they certainly don't standout among BEACH BOYS lyrics as being bad (IMO). At most, I'd say they come off a little outdated or corny/uncool or just not well written in spots - emphasis on a little. Overall, I actually kinda of like them. And then there's the criticism that it's slow. I get that to a point, but I actually think the issue is that - lacking more compositional diversity - it just goes on too long. I think fading out 20 seconds earlier would have made a huge difference. I suspect a lot of fans don't like it for some combination of a) they see it as uncool, and having been released post- Holland represents a reversion b) it wasn't a current song c) it was released instead of their favorite then-unreleased song d) it sounds out of place on Keepin' The Summer Alive and e) Mike Love sings on it.

Whoa, I actually think it would sound FAR more out of place on 15 Big Ones or Love You. Yeah, I think Bruce pushed for it. Didn't he say he liked the arrangement/backing track or something. I'm sure Brian and Mike didn't mind, though.

On every Beach Boys' album that 'Til I Die appeared on, it was spelled with an apostrophe. On Feel Flows, it is spelled with no apostrophe. OK, continue on...

In an even more dramatic alteration, "Games Two Can Play" suddenly became "Two Can Play." That one I can kind of understand. I just figured that, with more research, it was determined that the actual, real title was "Two Can Play". While I can't think of specific examples of that right now, I think that happened in the past with other BB and BB solo songs. I'm fairly confident it was not uncovered that 'Til I Die was intended to be Til I Die.

It's definitely stressful for people like me who use last.fm to keep track of what I listen to. Not a big deal for Two Can Play where it wasn't available on streaming very long (GV boxset), but 'Til I Die is going to be annoying.

This is great news, yet quite an indictment of the status of the industry.
#83 for a box set a couple weeks after release is great; #9 in sales is really amazing!
But 10k units sold gets you into the Top 10? Wow.
Also, here is a technical question: does anyone know whether multidisc sets count as multiple units sold? For example, is a double album two album sales, or one? (Does it go by title, or by number of discs sold?) Because obviously that would inflate the numbers for Feel Flows.

I guess the #9 in sales just shows that bands like The Beach Boys who appeal to an older crowd are more likely to shift physical product, even if it's an expensive somewhat niche release. But, even so, I'm a little, pleasantly, surprised its doing this well.

I'm also glad to see it. We know that moving product is the primary way to convince the powers that be to release more in the future (other than purely digital, since obviously we know there will be copyright releases of some sort or other regardless).
Speaking of Feel Flows, how are people treating it now? Still listening much? Or was it just that first week's excitement, now died down?

I'll be honest, I've been spending more time with the new Maiden since its release on Friday.

I've been listening to the album I made quite a bit, but have mostly stopped listening to the rest of the set. I've been going back to my "current favorites" playlist more and more, although I did add about half of my album to it haha.
