This is like being asked to choose between honeybees and butterflies.
I choose Pet Sounds.
I’ve been trying to come up with a rationale to explain my choice, but ultimately, it’s emotional. It comes down to the fact that I enjoy listening to Pet Sounds more than I do Sgt. Pepper’s. They are both important albums, two of the most important of all time, perhaps even equally so. They achieve different purposes. Popular music, and the world, would never be the same without either of them.
Sgt. Pepper’s gives me a buzz. Pet Sounds sets my heart a flutter and gives me life.

Sgt. Pepper’s gives me a buzz. Pet Sounds sets my heart a flutter and gives me life. Try playing them simultaneously, one into each ear, and let me know what happens. Sounds like it might be nirvana (which is a lot better than Nirvana).

I heard about someone who did that, and the right side of their brain poured out their left ear, while the left side of their brain poured out their right ear. I don't want to stain my clothes!

Nirvana was just mentioned in the same breath as Pet Sounds and Sgt. Pepper's. I think I actually feel ill.

EDIT: You know, KDS, I am probably actually the person here whose hatred of Nirvana best matches (or even exceeds?) yours.

Can't stand Nirvana. Kurt Cobain's voice is ridiculously bad. As they say, ain't it truth.

Pet Sounds vs. Sgt. Pepper's? Easy one for me. Pet Sounds by a knockout.
Nothing really to say about Pet Sounds' greatness, but I am one of those music fans who thinks that Sgt. Pepper's is overrated. Oh, it's an overall great album. Any album that has the title track, With A Little Help From My Friends, Lucy, She's Leaving Home, and A Day In The Life has to be considered a great album (though I have it more towards the upper/middle of The Beatles' pack). It also has a few songs - Getting Better, Fixing A Hole, Lovely Rita, and Kite - that are really good songs and I like 'em a lot, however I don't view them as these great tracks. Within You Without You and When I'm Sixty-Four? They bring the album down. Don't misunderstand, Sgt. Pepper is a cool album; very atmospheric, experimental in a good way, well-produced, well-performed. Hey, it's great, it sold, it's The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's. Shut up. But, add Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields Forever and we'll talk.

I know. Although, I think I had flashbacks to seeing Nevermind being mentioned in the same breath as Pet Sounds, Sgt Pepper, Dark Side, etc.

OK, after stewing about it for a couple of days, I'm going Pet Sounds. (If I ever were to join a Beatles message board, maybe I'd return the favor over there and pick Pepper.)

I think I'll give this a shot. How about "Lahaina Aloha" from the Summer In Paradise album vs. "Time Will Tell" by Flash Cadillac & The Continental Kids from their album, Sons Of The Beaches.

Never heard that song before, I like it! They sure do a good job of sounding like the Beach Boys. In this case, I’m going to go with the real McCoy and choose Lahaina Aloha as the better song. There are so many good things in it... it's well constructed, the guitar and accordion sound great, Mike's "bye-bye", and of course, Carl’s vocals in the chorus are sublime.

Can't say I like either one, but usually the Beach Boys doing a bad impression of themselves beats someone else doing an OK one. So I'll give it to "Laihana Aloha" (if only for Carl Wilson's voice).

I'll go Lahaina Aloha. I'd never heard Time Will Tell before. It's an alright summer song.
