What don't you like about them? I'd like them if they were the other way round! Name your favourite track from an album, then your next favourite... I just feel guilty summarily dismissing songs that cost one or more people far more talented than myself a lot of time, love and energy (not necessarily in that order). That's just the way I'm made. For what it's worth, we would only be doing the albums, not individual songs. That's been done multiple times and there's one going on right now elsewhere. I know that doesn't address your point, though. Although you could look at it as one vote against an album is one vote for all of the other albums.

I have no problem doing the individual songs on the albums, but we do have a numbers problem on this forum, and there is a possibility you might end up with only four, maybe five votes per song/album.
It would be nice if we could come up with something that would spur more interest and participation from our newer members.

I'm not really sure. There are definitely people I see who are often logged in, but never post or vote on anything.

What about doing it in reverse? As in voting FOR multiple items in a list, rather than voting 1 thing out. That way even if only 5-6 people participate, everyone has multiple votes to give, and it's not an elimination game, but a retention game instead.

Either way - I'd participate in some kind of album survivor.

These kinds of games / ratings things tend not to be my favorite, but they definitely are a way to keep things semi-active. I'm game to at least occasionally chip in to whatever ends up happening.

Maybe we could do a Battle of the Beach Boys Bands, voting on, and then comparing and contrasting different incarnations of the band over the years from the beginning to the present. I'm not sure I've seen that done in my time on the forums so far.

Though I wouldn't want to get too deep into the weeds with every little line-up change. I think it would be better to keep the number of options in check by going with eras instead of specific line-ups.

What, you want to ignore the earth-shattering paradigm shifts like swapping out Mike D'Amico on aux percussion for Nelson Bragg?

You could always have the various live falsetto singers over the years battle it out - Foskett, Adrian Baker, Matt Jardine, Eichenberger, etc.

I'm sure there are more than a handful of songs where we could get clips from at least 4-6 different bands.
