"Peggy Sue"...It's the best vocal of Al's career and so few people heard it.

Day 29: A song you remember from your childhood.
Kokomo. This version in particular is the very first song I really remember hearing:

In My Room, which I'd listen to from my parents' old copy of Endless Summer, staring at the artwork and trying to figure out who was who, and why there was a weird bodybuilder and was I seeing a topless (manly) woman?

Day 30: A song that reminds you of yourself. I Just Wasn't Made For These Times My first two choices! Okay, probably a popular pick, but I gotta go with "In My Room". Gee, I'm sensing a pattern or something...

The CK stole my IJWMFTT.
So, I guess I'll go with a song that I've already used once, but Beaches in Mind, because my mind is never too far from the beach.

That's the perk of running the thread - first dibs! In all seriousness, that's the beauty of Pet Sounds, isn't it? Teens, young adults, and beyond, discover this album with each generation and it's just as relatable to them. The beauty of the album is far beyond us, but underneath we see ourselves. Maybe it's just that most posters around the BBs message boards probably feel like everything that can be said about Pet Sounds has been said, but I kinda get the sense that Tony Asher is somewhat underappreciated. I love the Wilson/Love songs of the '60s, but this Wilson/Asher detour was perfectly timed.

Well, I would imagine that Brian and Tony aren't going to be very busy for the next several months, so...(coughs, as he looks for a Tony Asher emoticon)...

Across BB boards, I see praise for Van Dyke Parks and his work with Brian all the time, but Asher, not so much.
