One song that has grown on me more recently is California Dreamin'. I was always fond of it, but hearing the song on Stranger Things breathed new life into it, for me anyway. It's always fun to see a song you really like become mainstream, especially from a band whose last hit was 35 years ago. It's been on my current favorites playlist since June and I'll probably keep it there until I move to my summer playlist in the spring.

I'd like to add That Lucky Old Sun. For years I could not for the life of me understand what everyone was raving about. It took a gently persuasive voice to reveal its qualities to me. I now regard it as one of a pair with Orange Crate Art, although 13 years separate the two. Why? Maybe it's because Van Dyke's crate can be filled with Brian's oranges, lol. Or maybe it's because they are both wonderfully mellow albums with both men on board. I see the album's wiki has no hyperlink for Scott Bennett. I don't believe Uncle Phil (or Gesualdo) has ever had that treatment... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/That_Lucky_Old_Sun_(album)

I'm not sure whether he's been (semi-)disappeared or just doesn't have a Wiki page. I know a few years back when I was checking on such things, I remember being surprised Darian didn't have one. He does now, but maybe Scott never did have anyone make one for him. Notice that in the credits, Nick Walusko, Probyn Gregory, and Taylor Mills all lack pages, too.

Interestingly, if I go here and click on the relevant link, it directs me to TLOS. If I try the other three names, I get "Wikipedia does not have an article with this exact name." So somewhere along the line there's a difference. Your "(semi-)disappeared" sounds plausible.

OK, let's move along to another subtopic.
What is a Beach Boys (or related) song about which you've changed your mind for the worse? Something that, for whatever reason, you just don't like as much as you once did.

And, I'll quantify that I don't dislike these songs, I just don't like them as much as I used to.
- Surfin' U.S.A. ... maybe it's because the subsequent live versions rock more. - Cool, Cool Water ... I still love the water chant, but then the song goes nowhere; I prefer the actual SMiLE variants. - Goin' On - I think the performance is better than the song itself, or maybe it's a reaction to fans overrating it IMO.

"Be True to Your School" -- it was fun when I was in jr. high school, less so after moving on to college and earning a couple of degrees. In concert, it got to be tiresome fairly early on, and I quickly realized I didn't need to hear that particular song performed live again and would have loved for it to be replaced with a fave or something different in the setlist. That, and NO cheerleaders.

"Forever", the Sunflower version. I used to like it a lot, but over the years Brian's vocalizings were becoming an increasing source of irritation. Except for the one time they distort: that's rather cool!
But really, there's too much of it, like too much syrup poured over a dessert. Stamos's respectful take is more soothing on the ear.

The first one that comes to mind is one Sheriff John Stone mentioned: "Cool Cool Water." I still think that (other than the sound effects and some of the Smile era chanting stuff) what's there is nice enough. But like Sheriff said, it doesn't do much of anything, it doesn't go much of anywhere. It sets a mood, but once set, nothing much goes on. Perhaps early on I liked it more on name alone: written by Brian Wilson, and related to Smile, no less! These days, there's less magic in those words. To be clear, I still like it just fine. Just not as much as I once did.

"Rock and Roll Music" would be my pick.
Early in my BBs fandom I really liked the song, I think mainly because I had remembered hearing it on the radio back in the late mid 1970s. Then I hadn't heard it for a number of years, until I got the Made in USA comp. I had that whole CD in regular rotation, and even had it played at my wedding reception. R&RM was among my favorites in those days.
But as years have gone by I've grown to dislike the song (but not hate it), as I've become more critical of its flaws. First of all, the original production sounds very lazy to me. There's some nice interplay between Mike's lead vocals and the backing vocals, but let's face it, Mike's delivery is very lazy and almost droning. And with the repetitious nature of the chorus (same melody on every line except the last) it's hard for me to get through these days. C'mon Mike, I know you coulda put more excitement into it!
The MiC version is a way better mix and edit, but it's still kind of blah for me.

Cuddle Up - It was initially one of my favorite tracks on CATP, but now, I tend to think that it just hangs around a minute or two too long.
My Diane - I used to think this song was a minor masterpiece. I still like it, but the more I hear it, the more I think I felt that way initially because it's one of the few heavies on a relative light album.

Three songs come to mind. Surfin' USA, Little Deuce Coupe, and to a lesser extent, Fun Fun Fun. The first two I just listened to way too much. They were on my playlists for probably five years straight. Then one day with Surfin' USA one of my friends asked me how I can keep listening to it over and over. I guess that got to me because I've rarely listened to it since haha. Fun Fun Fun is still a slight favorite, but that was over played as well. I would have listed it as my favorite BB song early on in my fandom.

I actually considered Fun Fun Fun, especially after seeing roughly ten BB related concerts in the 2010s, all of which ended with Fun Fun Fun.

For me, "Fun Fun Fun" is a grower! I liked it immediately as a little kid listening to my parents' record, but by the time I was buying my own music, it was in the category of "despised Beach Boys" (along with all the rest). It's like a poor man's "I Get Around" to me, a classic rock and roll tune of theirs that I had to let worm its way in before I could admit that, yeah, it's great. It was the early-to-mid 00s, a solid 5 years into my fandom, before I would acknowledge liking it.

This one is slightly against the grain of the exercise, but still not totally dissimilar:
What is a Beach Boys (or related) song you can't quite make up your mind about?
Obviously I don't think many people have some severe love/hate relationship with anything, but are there tunes you kind-of like in some respects, but also have qualms with in other respects, so it isn't as easy as saying you love or hate it? You could rephrase the question as "...song you have a complicated relationship with?" (And yes, I ended this, and the initial topic's sentence, with a preposition. Grammarians be damned.)
