Why do I think Landy had something to do with this photo... rock to the rescue Ah, yes, I forgot about that work of art. I'm sure it was from the video filming of "Rock And Roll To The Rescue". But, because I need a life, I just screened that video, and there are no scenes with Brian in that...particular setting...with a bunch of young girls groping him. Close but not exact. So, I do think they took a minute to pose and snap a photo to capture that historic event. I said it rescued me, and it'll rescue you...rock!

You know, I look at that pic and think "oh my gosh, Brian looks just horrible there, so unwell..." and then I recall it was within, what, the past week?, that I'd pushed back on taking a single Syd Barrett pic and trying to read too much into it. I think I need to remember my own advice.

To me, these two photos really encapsule the feeling of Pacific Ocean Blue.

What an interesting collaboration this threesome would've made back in the day:

I like this colorized version from Brian’s ill-fated 2022 tour. It’s on the wall in my office.

This was the insert for The Beach Boys Love You album. The photos were taken at the band's "Sweet Sixteen" New Year's Eve concert and party on 12/31/76.

I don't have many LPs (since I don't have a turntable...), but I do have that one. It always surprised me a little--but I liked it--that they gave Billy Hinsche the same sized photo as they did full band members (though admittedly most band members appear in several and he doesn't). It was a nice touch.

I don't have many LPs (since I don't have a turntable...), but I do have that one. It always surprised me a little--but I liked it--that they gave Billy Hinsche the same sized photo as they did full band members (though admittedly most band members appear in several and he doesn't). It was a nice touch. Was Billy Hinsche close to being made an official member? Billy did sing the lead vocal on the unreleased "Mony Mony" and on an early version of "Honkin' Down The Highway". He sang "Sail On Sailor" in concert. Blondie Chaplin was gone. Maybe Billy was being considered?
A few observations from the above photos:
- On the top-center photo, you can see some maracas. Would that be Charles Lloyd? I didn't recall him being in the band in 1976. He was present in early 1977 so it probably was him. - Is the young boy sitting with Mike Love a young Christian Love? - Who is sitting next to Audree? I used to remember. Was it Dean Torrence's wife/girlfriend? - Speaking of Dean Torrence, he was the art director for the Love You album. - And speaking of "used to"s, I used to think that robe Brian was wearing was cool. Now I think it's atrocious. I'll bet Brian hated it. - Lady Lynda gets a photo! - No Annie Hinsche-Wilson, no Karen-Lamm Wilson, no whoever was Mike's wife/girlfriend at the time?
- On the large photo of Brian and Marilyn, Brian is holding something (cigarettes?) that was amateurishly blacked out. - And that...message...to Brian from the guys - I always thought it didn't come off quite the right way. Instead of supporting Brian and praising his new music, it was almost as if they were saying "We don't really like this new stuff. It's not what we wanted. It'll probably bomb. But, we love you anyway..."
