Not quite the Beach Boys, but a few Brian Wilson band members (Probyn, Nelson, and Scott) backing Paul Steel on "Surf's Up" at a tavern in 2012. I vaguely recall the name Paul Steel as I watch: I think he was a onetime poster on SMBB, in fact, though I might be hallucinating that. But I seem to remember him publicizing his music somewhere online in the BBs universe.
Yes, PS was on Smiley as injasonbow from 2006 to 2011. He was a very sporadic poster, with a total of just 26 posts.

This has been online since at least 2006, but this is the first I've seen of this performance by Brian (with Jeff and Darian) singing "Be My Baby" at a Ronnie Spector concert, with her band. The notes say it's from 2000, but indicates uncertainty.

Can't say I particularly enjoyed this arrangement or performance.

Not bad but it would've been more effective with Brian standing and a more rocking arrangement.

Agree. Not enough life!

This one slipped by me when it came out (2015), but I caught it on Reelz yesterday. It's OK, interesting in parts. It's pretty accurate, too, though some of the photos don't line up with the timeline. Some surprising interviews, especially with Russ Titelman and Landy's attorney (who comes off as an ignorant sleaze). It would've been better without the "actors" playing Brian and Landy, and also would've benefited with more interviews from others who were on the scene at the time including Stan Love and the Beach Boys/Brian's family, but they probably had no interest in this type of...documentary.

O sheriff I think they sound great and they are rockin and they're having fun. Now this must be one of the last shows where we have fennis drumming ? ,and so he looked so ill and I know this is close to the end for him , but hes playing his heart out as a beach boy and if Bryan could get up like that now or enjoy singing that much I'm sure we all would be happy. I love this and thank you for sharing

I find it disturbing. Brian looks unwell, more manic than happy.

I think I spent an hour on this also a few years back. REELZ also had a show where they analyze the death of Dennis Wilson, just to come to the conclusion that he was inebriated and drowned (gee, thanks doc).

I find it disturbing. Brian looks unwell, more manic than happy. And yet, Brian was well (bad choice of words) under the "care" of Dr. Landy.
What I find fascinating about this clip is that all of the fans were picking up good vibrations and having fun, fun, fun...and had no idea what was going on personally - or literally inside the heads - of Dennis and Brian Wilson. We know the stories, but we never TRULY know what those guys were experiencing in their tragic worlds.

This is great stuff. Again, this is historical footage. Never mind that the album was mediocre, IT'S A BEACH BOYS' RECORDING SESSION! It's a shame a part of BRI wasn't devoted to accumulating, restoring - and making available - every piece of video they could find...and/or afford.

I don't think there is any chance of that last part coming true until after the principals are deceased. (And let's be serious, mostly Brian.) Because they had been recording him in the studio since sometime in the '70s, as I recall*, to memorialize his input as much as possible in the unlikely event that he either dropped out entirely or worse.
But you have to consider the mental and musical shape he was in most of the time over those last few decades: not great. That kind of video wouldn't make for chart-topping teen idol success, to say the least. It would probably be embarrassing, to a point, the sort of thing you show as a curiosity or even as evidence of the man's and band's decline.
So maybe someday. But not during their lifetimes, or at least Brian's.
*I admit I don't recall where I got this from. I swear I have read it, but if I'm wrong, or if it is wrong, apologies.

I don't expect to ever see any sort of session video release at any point. But, I would like to see some sort of video anthology at some point, collecting any promo videos or key TV appearances they're able to get the rights to. Although, considering Mike and Bruce play clips on their screen with a Vh1 Classic bug in the corner, I'm thinking any official release would be unlikely.
