I gave a proper listen to this album last week and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. From listening to Carl's tracks in the past I knew the production would be off-putting, but I think there's an overall level of competency and quality throughout that makes it not as overwhelming as I anticipated. I actually plan to recommend this album to my dad. It's more his style, and I'm sure he's never heard it.
My favorite songs are Carl's "Like A Brother" and "I Wish For You", which I suppose is pretty predictable. I also like Carl's "Today", the lead track, as it really gets going, but I was very worried at first. Everything about that intro is exactly what I dislike and feared about the album. "Without Her" is good, too (but not great).
My least favorite song...by far...is Carl's "Run Don't Walk". That one's irritating even before the saxes come in. I'm not too high on Carl's other track either, "They’re Only Words”. I enjoyed the Lamm tracks more than I expected, but I still wouldn't really call myself a fan of the material.
A low 6/10.

I have no trouble with the production -- in fact, that of "Like A Brother" is simply stunning. Whether it's dedicated to Brian, Dennis or both, it sends shivers down the spine.

Yeah, I can't think of anything I would change about either.

Life in Motion is Lamm.

Very true, lonelysummer, I misspoke. I meant “They’re Only Words”.

Anyone else associate "Like A Brother" with "Can't Help Falling in Love"/"Plaisir d'amour"? Particularly, the melodic and musical similarities in the lines "the tide rolls in" vs. "take my hand" but there's also the lyrical association of invoking the sea. Maybe everyone does and I'm last to the party?
