I'm sticking with tracks released at the time, with the exception of the Christmas single which is being saved for a future poll. Also, for any tracks with multiple versions (e.g. "Be True To Your School"), it's up to you which one you're voting on.
Voting is open!

This one wasn't too bad. In order:
1. In My Room 2. Surfin' U.S.A. 3. Surfer Girl 4. Surfin' Safari 5. Catch A Wave 6. Be True To Your School (Album Version) 7. Hawaii 8. Your Summer Dream 9. Little Deuce Coupe 10. Lonely Sea
There was one song sticking out there that I so wanted to include in my Top 10 - "Cherry Cherry Coupe". It looks like somebody did. Way to go! I struggle with this aspect on every poll/ranking. I am rating the songs based on what I think are the BEST, not my FAVORITE. If I was ranking on favorites, "Cherry, Cherry Coupe" would've bumped "Lonely Sea" and maybe even "Little Deuce Coupe". I always liked "Cherry, Cherry Coupe". It's such a neat, catchy song. I love Mike's vocal and the group's backing. Obviously, I think it's underrated. It never made (I don't think anyway) a major or Best Of comp. Maybe because of the length? Because the backing track isn't...special? Because it's not an exciting car song? But it's a cool cruising song, one of Brian's best. And, I try to include on many of my comps.

Some pretty good tunes there, but this list emphasizes for me how much the BB's upped their game in 1964-65!

My choices were "The Shift" (arguably the most unfairly neglected/maligned song in the Boys' catalogue), "SUSA", "Lonely Sea", "Lana", "Finders Keepers", "Surfer Girl" (which I prefer to "In My Room"), "The Rocking Surfer" (a wonderfully evocative instrumental that deserves more credit), "BTTYS" (the 45), "Cherry, Cherry Coupe" and "Spirit Of America" (two great takes on the doo wop genre).

So, you're the one...so far. And I mean that in a good way, of course. Good job, jk. Listen to those background vocals!

This is really not an era I love, though as we move into the latter part of it, it's becoming one. The first couple albums don't do a lot for me, though. Here are the songs I ended up choosing, listed here in the order they appear.
1. The Lonely Sea 2. Surfer Girl 3. Catch a Wave 4. The Surfer Moon 5. Little Deuce Coupe 6. In My Room 7. Hawaii 8. Car Crazy Cutie 9. Cherry Cherry Coupe 10. No-Go Showboat

Never liked it much. Live, it is a little better because it ups the excitement. But no, I am not a fan of the studio version (or really the song). I'm that way with quite a few early Beach Boys songs.

I'm that way with quite a few early Beach Boys songs. I understand. I don't know if I overplayed "Surfin' U.S.A." at the beginning of my fandom, but eventually I got tired of it. And, I also agree that the live versions (and when attending concerts) - probably because they rock a little more - are more satisfying at times. However, again, I'm trying to be objective in my rankings and recognize its greatness and popularity.

I'm going mostly with a subjective approach: what do I want to listen to, what do I like? Because otherwise I feel like I'll just be voting for the hits, and that means my vote isn't really necessary. They hits are already obviously hits!

I decided to swap out Shut Down for Your Summer Dream. They were both competing for my 10th choice, but the more I thought about it, the more I like the latter song.

I think there are another 3-4 songs at least I could swap in for some of the ones I listed that are on the low end of my list (though I didn't officially rank them). Honestly I just plowed ahead and went with it!

Honestly I just plowed ahead and went with it! I didn't rank mine. I know Surfer Girl and In My Room are basically 1 and 1A. But, I picked my first nine fairly easily, before waffling on my tenth pick. I finally promoted Your Summer Dream when I realized that I find myself listening to that song far more than Shut Down. Shut Down has always pretty fairly low on my list of BB hits.
