Dear Ticketmaster
Fuck you!!
Fuck you, and the horse you rode in on!!
Seriously, it's not bad enough you tack excessive fees to tickets to fuck over the general public!!
But, for high demand events, the public can't get in to buy tickets.
I've been trying to nearly an hour to get tickets to the Queen + Adam Lambert show in Baltimore in October. I did not expect a legacy act featuring two original members of a legendary band that hasn't released an album in over 30 years could provide such a Goddamn headache when it comes to buying tickets.
Ever single time I clicked on a pair of tickets, and proceeded to check out, I got the following message
"Sorry! Another fan beat you to these tickets, so they're no longer available. Please select another listing, or adjust your criteria and try again."
Bullshit!!! I rarely go to shows anymore, and it looks like I'm getting shut out unless I want to buy a VIP package or wait for resales.
Once again, Ticketmaster. Fuck you!!!

I've had that exact experience. I think it might have been the BW Neverending Pet Sounds tour, but same thing: ticket after ticket after ticket after ticket. And I was there immediately when they went on sale. Started trying for really good floor-level seats and ended up midway up the balcony. You'd think once you had selected tickets, they'd hold them for some period of time while you complete the checkout. But nope. So by the time you go through it all and find out you've lost your tickets, untold numbers more are also gone.

There are some very expensive tickets remaining, but there's now way in Hell I'm paying between $500-$800 a ticket to see half of Queen.

This could have a happy ending. Queen + Adam Lambert have added a second night in Baltimore, with tickets going on sale Friday, April 7.
So, I'm getting a rematch with the Ticketmaster bots.

I say fuck the fucking fuckers at fucking Ticketbastard. I stopped dealing with those motherfuckers and the shit they do ages ago. The only way I will go to a show now is if I can buy tickets directly from the venue box office and avoid the assholes at Ticketbastard. Shows are already expensive these days, and then you gotta have those damn service charges on top of all that. It's not worth using my rent money to see a fucking concert. To hell with it! I ain't gonna bitch about it, I just don't go.
And I hope God will damn all those Ticketbastard shitheads to hell!

You do raise a major gripe I have, too, though: "service fees" or whatever all they call them. How is it that there weren't such fees associated with printing and selling and handing you (or mailing you) physical tickets, but when everything is on an already-built online platform and you do it all yourself, there are all these various fees added in? Which service, pray tell, is it for which we're paying? I understand the Biden administration is actually pushing for more transparency in various online purchases including concert, sports, and airline tickets to actually advertise and give full prices, not showing one price up front and then listing all these "service charges" on the final tally that in some cases almost double the costs.

Round Two of KDS v TM Bots is over.
It wasn't easy, but I emerged victorious.
It didn't look good early on. There were 2,000+ ahead of me in the queue. Then, once I got in, I clicked on 10-15 pairs of tickets and got the "Sorry! Another fan beat you to these tickets, so they're no longer available. Please select another listing, or adjust your criteria and try again" message.
Then, when it looked like a pair was going through, I got "we could not complete your order on this device, please make sure you're signed in." So, I signed out and back in. This time, only one ahead of me in the queue.
After five more unsuccessful tries, I was thinking of giving up, but I tried and finally secured a pair to the Oct 5 Queen + Adam Lambert concert.
