Frank Zappa, Dee Snider, and John Denver making a bunch of senators look like the prudish, censorious, anti-free speech schoolmarms they were.
It was this day on 1985 that the senate held a hearing on "porn-rock." The aforementioned three musicians, each from very different genres of music and backgrounds, were uniform in their stances against the senators and the PMRC (Parents Music Resource Center). Heroes.

As a conservative Republican, I sometimes hate conservative Republicans.

I remember seeing a story about this years ago on some "history of rock" thing on Vh1, where the PMRC thought Denver was going to be on their side. Ooops.
