Something I found interesting was that Foreman claims in the interview that the West Coast Offense, that much imitated 80s and 90s trend, originated with those Vikings teams. I've more often heard or read that it originated in that same time frame in Cincinnati, where future 49ers coach Bill Walsh was an assistant.
I wonder if there is a real answer as to which was first, or if someone was copying someone else, or if they just had some common history through which it was developed.

I don't know if those early-mid 1970's Vikings' teams were the first to implement the Wast Coast Offense, but quarterback Fran Tarkenton was certainly unique, and maybe ahead of his time, too. Not many quarterbacks were playing the game the way Tarkenton was. You hear a lot today about double-threat quarterbacks (run AND pass), and most of the top quarterbacks today are just that. But, Fran Tarkenton was the best of those in the 1960s and 1970s, and, again there weren't many around back then.

NFL Super Wild Card Weekend was mostly...forgetable IMO. It feels like the WC Round is often this way, and (get off my lawn alert) adding the 7th playoff spot in each conference hasn't helped.
Six games in three days, and the only really compelling one was the Lions one point win over the Rams.
After the Bills beat the Steelers this evening, the Ravens' match up for next weekend is set. Houston is coming to town for a very cold Saturday evening.

What a thrilling and cold evening at M&T Bank Stadium yesterday!! The Ravens won to finally secure their first ever home AFC Championship. It'll be the first AFC Championship in Baltimore since the very first one - 53 years ago.

Well, The Chiefs Won and I was excited, but my husband and I both agreed that we just don’t care as much about the Chiefs as we used to. We sort of just watched the game here and there. Not looking forward to next week. Ravens are going to be on a whole other level. Meanwhile, I keep routing for the Lions. So many years of seeing them losing games at Thanksgiving, I love seeing them going to the NFC Championship game!

Is it because they probably aren't as good as they have been in some recent years, or are you just kind of over it? I'm wondering because I definitely go hot and cold on the Vikings and some other sports/teams. It's not always just about how good or bad they are, either.

I remember that seemed to be the case in Baltimore last season when the Ravens were in the playoffs. Granted, it had a lot to do with the fact that Tyler Huntley, not Lamar Jackson, was under center. But, there was zero buzz around the team whatsoever.
I was starting to wonder if apathy had set it a bit here, but the feeling is completely different this season.

Speaking of Lamar, his haters have been busy moving goalposts since his 4 TD (2 rushing, 2 passing) performance in Saturday's win.
Some of these folks are criticizing Lamar for passing for less than 200 yards.
Can't please everyone I guess.

I mean, nobody's perfect, there are always things any player could do to improve, but if you're not happy with Lamar Jackson as your QB, I'm afraid you're just not ever going to be happy. You're just looking for things to complain about. In the time you've had Jackson, we've had Kirk Cousins, who has been up and down, and we've made the playoffs only twice. I'd be very glad to have had Lamar Jackson!

I do think there is still a decent amount of racism in sports among fans. It's weird, because these racists also know that without black athletes in particular (in football and basketball at least), the sports would be much worse off. So it's almost like they begrudgingly accept it, and then still hang on to their stereotypes like how black quarterbacks can't be smart, aren't good pocket passers, really just improvise and run, are natural athletes but not skilled, etc. In Minnesota there is a definite bias toward white players. It's not even close. As much as fans loved Kevin Garnett, for example, it has been people like Wally Szczerbiak--a decent, but obviously not great player--they love the most. For the Vikings, Harrison Smith has been probably the favorite player here for his whole career, him and Adam Thielen. Granted, Thielen was a local, but even so ... it's hard not to notice the trend as far as who ends up fan favorites in Minnesota. People can be so stupid.

Part of the reason is that after so many years, the Chiefs finally made it to, and won a couple of Super Bowls. The first year, we bought so many pieces of clothing, then last year, I just bought a T-Shirt on clearance several months later. The team didn’t look so good all year and the games were exhausting. Nice to make it to the AFC Championship game the sixth year in a row. We will be very invested in the AFC Championship game, but frankly, I won’t be super depressed if the Chiefs don’t win. It’s been a good run, and KU won the NCAA Basketball Championship in 2022, so I am good.

I don’t disagree with you on that perspective. I’m also the last person on Earth to use “racism” as an excuse as well, but yeah, I see it in this case. I don’t begrudge him being MVP of the AFC. He earned it. May the best team win on Sunday.

The weird part is Baltimore has a history of embracing African American athletes. From Lenny Moore and Frank Robinson, to Ray Lewis and Adam Jones.
But, I think some fans can't accept a black man at QB for some reason.
