This double live album was released the year after the C50 tour. The lack of any liner notes, and the fact that it's not a complete show leads me to believe this live album was merely a contractual obligation from the 2012 reunion.
I just listened to this much maligned album for the first time in nine years. It actually sounds better than I remember. Although, the autotune is very prominent, particularly on Mike's vocals.
While not a complete show, it's probably as close as we'll get for an official document of the 2012 tour. It includes 41 tracks. The exclusion of I Just Wasn't Made For This Times is a real head scratcher. I'd prefer that to another live version of Barbara Ann.

This is the rare Beach Boys album I never bought. I listened to it upon release and wasn't a big fan: it definitely felt like a live album minus the energy of a live show (but with more autotune). I ought to listen again just to be fair about it ... but I don't know when I will.

I will say it's not the most live sounding live album in the world.
But, I also think listening this time around, I was focused a little more on the performances, which helped my enjoyment.

A live album minus the energy of a live show but with more autotune? Uh-oh...
I've never listened to this album in its entirety. And while there's no way I'm sitting down with headphones and notepaper for over two hours to properly review this thing, I have been chipping away during my commute this week. I'm into the 2nd disc, and while the autotune is horrific (in spots), I think there might be a more concise (perhaps 30-35 minute) version that I could listen to and enjoy from front to back. Anyway, I'll comment more on the highlights and lowlights when I finish (assuming I can remember them, as I haven't taken any notes). But for now, who knew "The Little Girl I Once Knew" was from Summer Days (Summer Nights)? Not I! Thanks Bruce.

But, sadly, I think it won't happen until after there are any original Beach Boys on the road, and probably (sorry to be morbid) when there no living members of the original band.
