There was a time I'd scarf that ^ up...and pack it away in the closet.

Somewhere, Gene Simmons is laughing that it took them 60+ years to think of that.

Not an ideal thread, but it'll have to do.
I went to a record store today for the first time in years. Not too much out of the ordinary for the Beach Boys outside of the 1975, 2-record set, American Summer. That was fun to see. I probably should have picked it up but I'm really not looking to add much to my collection (vinyl, in particular). I ended up getting two gifts and two CDs for myself (George Harrison's Best of the Dark Horse Years and Ringo's Starr Struck: Best of Vol. 2). Good condition, cheap, and I didn't have either in any format.
I was surprised to find very, very little Brian Wilson solo. Off the top of my head, I think BWPS on CD was the only one I saw. I was wondering if I was looking in the right section, but I think they were just sold out or perhaps some of his albums were in the random bins that I wasn't about to look through. In the past, they've had some of his stuff. I was curious to see if they had his recent releases, only to find they had virtually nothing! They had quite a few of Ringo's recent releases.
You know, it was fun, but I don't really miss collecting too much. There was a ridiculously cheap Bob Dylan box set I could have picked up, but then I thought, "do I really want it taking up that much space?" I enjoy my collection. And I actually just started the process of making a list of my entire collection. It'll be fun to take my records off the shelf, take stock of what I got, and listen along the way. But I also think I'll enjoy being very selective moving forward with what I add. Gone are the days of diving through bins and buying more than I can listen to. I might actually thin my collection out a little bit. Donate/sell perhaps a few dozen items, not much. One area that I might add to, though, is music films/documentaries.
Okay, that gift card I'd been holding on to for 5+ years has finally been put to good use!
