I noticed that the article says that Full House has achieved "cult status." Wasn't it very popular when it aired?

I noticed that the article says that Full House has achieved "cult status." Wasn't it very popular when it aired? What's funny is, they say that right after pointing out its huge-hit status.
Maybe they mean the fact that it outlived its (initial) run via its reputation? Like that it retained some degree of social relevance (even if as a joke to many)? But yeah, I don't know.
Interesting article, though.

That is a good article. I never knew that Stamos was getting his musical friends on his TV shows as far back as General Hospital. Good for him. And, Gary Griffin certainly did make his dreams come true, too!
