B.E.: Best Song Intros: Surfer Girl poll is up through August 31st. Aug 25, 2024 12:22:34 GMT
jk: I see you can only attach images that are 1 MB or less, when anything I want to attach is between 2 and 4 MB. What are the chances of upping it to 4? :| Aug 29, 2024 9:05:50 GMT *
Robert: Why can't you embed them? Aug 31, 2024 2:50:27 GMT
jk: I can embed stuff that's online. That's not the problem. It's uploading things from my PC. I've used postimages.org in the past but I prefer to cut out the middle man and attach things directly. It's hardly a big deal, just a thought really... Aug 31, 2024 10:12:28 GMT *
Robert: I can't speak for the owner(s) of this site, but upping the attachment limit would cost money, so I wouldn't hold my breath on that happening. And just to be clear, you've uploaded images from your computer to the postimages site for hosting? Aug 31, 2024 17:20:10 GMT
jk: What do you mean by hosting, R? Excuse this digitally challenged lover of music. B-| Aug 31, 2024 19:44:33 GMT *
Robert: It just means you're uploading images from your computer to a site (postimages, imgur, etc.) in order to get an URL so you can embed the pics elsewhere (like here). postimages, imgur or whoever would be your "host". Sept 1, 2024 2:54:34 GMT
Robert: When you "attach" pics to a post, ProBoards is the host and they're paying for the bandwidth and servers (computers) to display the pictures. That's why they charge more money to increase the file sizes. Sept 1, 2024 2:56:27 GMT
Robert: If your pictures or files are hosted somewhere else, like at postimages, imgur, or wherever, ProBoards is not storing those files on their own computers, nor paying for the bandwitdh to display them, so they don't care how big those files are. Sept 1, 2024 2:59:03 GMT
Robert: Also, my understanding "bandwidth" is rudimentary. It's basically a measurement of much much data a given internet connection can carry. Do a search for it and you'll see several website that explain it in very simple terms. Sept 1, 2024 3:07:12 GMT
jk: Thanks a lot, Robert. I get the picture (no pun intended) and I'll act accordingly. ;) Sept 1, 2024 9:19:40 GMT
Robert: Feel free to pm me if you have any questions. Sept 2, 2024 1:59:41 GMT
jk: Hey , welcome aboard! :) Sept 5, 2024 10:36:29 GMT
Kapitan: Apologies for a lengthy delay, but there's a new tune in the Hot 100 #1s thread--the first #1 from Motown Records. Sept 5, 2024 18:59:46 GMT
jk: "Only Time" was heard often during the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. If music can heal, Enya's music has to be the perfect balm: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wfYIMyS_dI Sept 11, 2024 21:43:03 GMT
Kapitan: A new No. 1 in the Hot 100 thread, the final one of 1961 (and first of 1962). Sept 13, 2024 19:17:02 GMT
jk: As a comment on Sheriff's most recent "RR&R" post, Joe's first 45 in the UK was "Marjorine": www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2vRA3yhGbE. It was part of my piano repertoire for a while. I recall Joe was an inveterate air guitarist! Sept 14, 2024 10:52:42 GMT *
Kapitan: The next No. 1 from the Hot 100, well, we're skipping that, having already covered it back in the 1960 chart-toppers. But ironically, the song that knocked it off the top spot in 1962 was also inspired by and capitalizing on it. Sept 18, 2024 19:47:47 GMT
jk: I'll look in there and comment soon. ;) Sept 19, 2024 10:52:41 GMT
