Inspired by another thread, post some lyrics by the BBs you think are rather silly, can also include solo or unreleased if you want!
Example: "A cigarette butt when you throw it in the water goes phht"

"Sherry don't hate her guts just 'cause she took me away, maybe you'll want to make friends with her someday."

This one usually gets a laugh...
"You know she digs you and thinks you're a real groovy guy, but yet I'm not sure that I feel the same."

"Why don't you love her, like her big brother." Yikes To me, silly does not necessarily equal bad. I like a little humor, a little off-kilter, but this is both. Yikes, indeed.

Pretty much the entirety of Take a Load Off Your Feet, but this verse in particular:
Pete knows all the treacherous blows The fallen arches and the cramp in the toes He went to H. E. L. P. and got some sandals new And does the old asanas too

There's a line in "Vegetables" - "I tried to kick the ball but my tenny flew right off." At first I thought the line was silly and didn't even "get it" until I figured out what a tenny was. But this is what always bothered me about the line. Whenever I hear a SMiLE song, practically every one, I think of a time frame set sometime, somewhere in Early America, all the way up to the early 1900's. However, when I hear Brian (or Al) sing that tenny line, I envision a picture of Brian in those 1966 white pants wearing...tennis shoes. Then I think, did they even have tennis back in the early 1900's, and if they did, why would Brian and Van Dyke choose to include tennis shoes in a song? So, in the end, I figure that the song, "Vegetables", is probably set in 1966. OK, it's time for me to meditate.

I was going to say Vegetables, too. The candy bar / wrapper line, and the tennie flew right off. (I got that right away, as my dad--same age as Brian, btw--used to call them "tennie runners.")

I love that line! Its partner in crime feels neglected: "We do it holdin' hands it's so cold I go brrr" I love that one, too. Maybe my favorite line in "Roller Skating Child". The Beach Boys Love You is full of silly lines.

And from the same "album," how about "don't sit around on your ass smoking grass, that stuff went out a long time ago."
Or the entirety of "It's Trying to Say (Baseball)"!

Adult Child is full of 'em. I think the lyrics are almost as relevant as the music/vocals as to why Adult Child wasn't released.
I'm always taken back by the line, "Hear the maid whistle a tune..." How many rock stars even want to admit that they have a maid cooking their meals, much less sing about it?

That album is loaded with them ... and it's part of why I love it. I find the music and lyrics of that album tremendously charming. But it's also obvious how it wasn't remotely like what one might have expected for Beach Boys hit material.

A more recent one that gets a chuckle from me
"Easy money, ain't it funny, hey what's it to ya"
