I discussed Brian's Christmas Album, might as well discuss Mike's.
I find Mike's Christmas offering to be a nice, but otherwise, generic Christmas release. Finally It's Christmas is pretty good, as was Must Be Christmas.
The less said about the remake of Little Saint Nick, and the Shortenin Bread title track, the better.
The covers, credited to All Love, are good, but ultimately forgettable.
But, it's nice that Alone on Christmas Day found a home.

I’ll be honest: I listened to it precisely once. It sounded more or less how I thought it would. Could’ve been much, much worse, but it’s still nothing I feel the need to revisit.
P.S., I don’t know why I felt the need to begin with “I’ll be honest.” I’m always honest! Assume as such unless I say “I’ll be dishonest.”

From the album art, to the cover songs by All Love, the album tends to have the feel of those bargain bin Christmas CDs you used to see at Best Buy for $3 every December.

I’m talking strictly from memory of listening to this last year but I remember I mostly liked it. Some of it was definitely a bit generic sounding, but nothing stood out as being hard to listen to, except the title track. Celestial Celebration was the stand out song for me. I’ll have to give this a listen later to see if I still feel the same way.

The one that's hard for me to listen to is Little Saint Nick. It sounds as bad as those BB remakes on Disc 2 of Unleash the Love.

I gave this album my obligatory yearly listen last week. As I said three years ago, I find it enjoyable, but ultimately forgettable. I find myself enjoying the songs with Mike's daughters on the back end of the album, Bring a Torch in particular. That was actually a traditional Christmas song with which I was pretty unfamiliar before the album came out.

Partly because there really aren't a ton of versions of that song around, unlike some of the other traditional songs that appeared on Mike's album.

I had never heard the song until I got the Everly Brothers' Christmas Album a few years ago. The girl singing it on Mike's album has a real sweet voice.

According to Wikipedia, it's Hayleigh Love who sings lead on Bring a Torch, and I agree, her voice is great on it.

I confess to having burned a copy I got from the library, and I neglected to photocopy the artwork. Thank you. I'm sure I saw the CD at a couple stores back when it came out, but I passed on it because there was other stuff I needed to get, being Christmastime.

I'm not certain if they specified who sings what on the CD itself. I got a copy for buying a ticket for the 2018 Reason for the Season Tour, but when I listen now, I typically play it on Spotify.

Maybe that's the deal - I should check it out again and scan the artwork. Of course what I really do is buy a copy if I can find one.

I'd say Amazon's probably your best bet if you want a physical copy.
