Good for you. I've been to several professional sporting events overs the years (including golf ), but I don't think I ever attended any kind of "playoff game". I think my only major league playoff experience live were home games in the 1997 Wolves v. Rockets (as a student reporter)... ...with Barkley, Drexler, and Olajuwon? Oh, and Garnett and Marbury?

Yep, all of the above. My #1 takeaway (other than just bliss of superstar-driven basketball!) was how good the food was for media in the playoffs! I mean, being in college, I was delighted at every Gopher and Wolves game for their little buffets. (Yep. That happens. It was, and presumably still is, great.) But for the playoffs it was REALLY great!
Also, when (media member) Reggie Theus walked past Charles Barkley's media availability, he said "Reggie Theus, if I was as pretty as you, I'd walk around naked."
And I was the biggest fan of Rockets backup PG Randy Livingston imaginable. He was a high school superstar whose college (and thus pro) careers were derailed by injuries, but he was a basketball GENIUS. I was delighted to see him, even though he was a role player at best in that series.
The Wolves, with Steph, KG, Gugliotta, Doug West, James "Hollywood" Robinson, and of course the indefatigable Sam Mitchell, were the first playoff team we ever had. Great bunch of players under Flip Saunders. You could easily see how special they could be. Alas, I think it was one more season before Googs left in free agency for Phoenix. Then there was the Joe Smith debacle that cost us a bazillion picks. And so on.

Yeah, it was a lot of fun. Then, the game started. Good for you. I've been to several professional sporting events overs the years (including golf ), but I don't think I ever attended any kind of "playoff game". I've attended three Orioles playoff games (1997 ALDS & ALCS, 2014 ALDS), and I've attended every home Ravens playoff games. Oddly enough, for as much success as the Ravens have had in their history, they don't play too well in home playoff games. I also attended some CFL playoff games during Baltimore's two year stint from 1994-1995.

I'm assuming you had a press pass and got in for free?

Unfortunately, I never got to experience a Baltimore Colts game. I saw some Orioles, Stallions (CFL), and Ravens games at Memorial Stadium.

I took a sportcasting class in college, and we were going to get a press pass and get a shot at doing an inning of play by play (not on air, just recorded) at an Orioles game. My game was scheduled for September 12, 2001.
The game was postponed until the end of the season. But the end of the 2001 season was the end of Cal Ripken Jr's final year, so they needed the space in the press box for additional national media.

Woke up to a nuclear hazard alert on my phone this morning. It has since come out that the alert was sent out in error and there is no radiological hazard event to worry about. I don't live within the 10km evacuation zone surrounding the power plant, but 60 km still feels too close to home and the unease continues. Definitely not my favourite way to wake up on a Sunday morning. I actually live about 20 miles from the Three Mile Island Nuclear Plant near Harrisburg, PA, and was sitting in the library at the Penn State Capitol Campus - about 100 yards away from the TMI towers - when the near-meltdown occurred in March 1979. So, I understand what you're feeling.
BTW, the TMI plant was officially closed in September 2019.
Yikes, that’s seriously terrifying. Nuclear power is something that I just never think about and to be honest I didn’t even know there was a nuclear power plant in Pickering. Now I’m aware, lol.

I don't think I suffer from any effects from the TMI nuclear accident in 1979, but I suffer from headaches, to some extent, oh, just about every day. After playing several sports through high school, you don't think I wonder about all of these recent findings.

I think KDS meant more like did you become Spider-Man or the Incredible Hulk.

I think KDS meant more like did you become Spider-Man or the Incredible Hulk. I know, but since kds mentioned kind of after effects, even facetiously, I thought I would vent or share that. Continue on while I get two Excedrin...

Have you noticed any new powers since receiving the alert? Hmm, well considering I was handily defeated by a bunch of 8-to-10-year-olds at laser tag later that day, I'm gonna go with nope, at least not where agility or reaction time are concerned. I did have a feeling they'd defeat me, however, so maybe my spidey senses have been awakened

Minneapolis is expecting anywhere from 6-12" of snow by noon tomorrow. (We're about 2" in, so far.) And then we're to be graced by 40 mph gusts of wind, which should be delightful. So, as one might expect, we've stocked up on everything and are going to be holed up inside, shoveling notwithstanding.
The good news is, I've got a pork roasting that will be half used in a white chili (pork, hominy, and white beans with chicken stock, onions, peppers, etc.) and the other half for carnitas. And there is more than enough to drink!
Anybody else getting this blizzard, which I understand is spanning large swaths of the country?
