I heard that due to high winds predicted on Thanksgiving Day in New York, the Macy's parade might not be able to fly those large helium-filled balloons. Apparently they cannot fly them if winds exceed 23 mph and gusts exceed 34 mph. And that is about what the meteorologists are predicting - gusts right at 34 mph. It will be a Thanksgiving morning decision. That would be sad; the balloons are a great attraction and tradition.

The politically correct people are still complaining about the "inappropriate" lyrics to the song, "Baby, It's Cold Outside". So, this year, John Legend recorded an updated 2019 version with Kelly Clarkson. Ugh.
I'm not sure which part of this I don't like the most. An update of a classic with unnecessary PC lyrics, or another Christmas song with Kelly Clarkson. Honestly, I thought it was hilarious.

Here is the story of the original rewrite, from 2016.
Speaking of cold outside, we ended up with about 8" of heavy, wet snow, and a nasty wind to go with it. At least it is supposed to be dry through tomorrow, which is good considering I'm driving about an hour and a half to my parents' house for Thanksgiving.

The fourth of the past five days to see snow falling, it's definitely a day for simmering a stew. Specifically I'm going to make a lamb-squash-chickpea curry, timed for dinner tonight, with fresh, warm naan alongside it.

Lamb and squash together sounds incredible. I was thinking of roasting some squash today, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. I wish I had some goat cheese. I'd go out and get some, but there is a pretty nasty ice storm in progress, which is supposed to turn into 10-15 cm of snow later, so I don't think I'll take my chances.
Actually, I better roast that squash before the power goes out...

It's almost the Christmas season. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm looking forward to seeing which iconic Christmas song, TV special, or movie is "problematic" in today's society. And, we have a winner. But, surprisingly, it's not a song, movie, or TV special. It's...what is it Ralphie? "A crummy commercial? Son of a bitch." www.bbc.com/news/business-50649826

People care too much!
What, a commercial was unrealistic!? I’m shocked! Anyone with two-thirds of a brain could find fault with nearly EVERY commercial! Projecting too-beautiful people, unrealistically rich people (or don’t you all buy matching SUVs for you and your significant other at Christmas!?), omnipotent wives, bumbling husbands, all in an overly materialistic context....uh yeah. COMMERCIALS!
Relax, world! If something bugs you, don’t buy it.

How long has Lexus been running those ads with the car with the giant bow in front of the McMansion on Christmas morning. But, this is life in 2019, where there is a small segment of people who actively look for things to get pissed off about, and they have a portal to the entire world to voice their disapproval about it.

Yes, those car commercials are right up there with jewelry commercials as pretty annoying. But it’s not real life. I just don’t care. In that same ballpark of unrealistic commercials, it always baffles me when people complain that people in commercials, on TV, or in movies are setting unrealistic expectations. I totally agree that people on screen are generally more attractive than the rest of us … but IT ISN’T A DOCUMENTARY. Sorry, folks, but most people prefer looking at (daydreaming about, aspiring toward, whatever) beautiful people! If commercials, television, and movies were exactly like real life, we wouldn’t watch: there would be no point in them!

I honestly don't think some of these people understand the meaning of fiction.
