I'm surprised Al hasn't done a Christmas single or album. If he did an album, Christmas Day would certainly be on it. Al did release a Xmas single five years ago called Hurry Up Santa Claus.

"Hurry Up, Hurry Up, Santa Claus" was written by Scott Bennett (!) and Billy Roach.
...and then there's this one, "Big Sur Christmas":

"Hurry Up, Hurry Up, Santa Claus" was written by Scott Bennett (!) and Billy Roach. It sounds pretty rough ... almost like it was recorded live, and like Al only had a few takes to learn the song, much less nail it. One of his shakiest leads ever!
Re Bennett, his absence is a shame. Without taking into account the details of everything he did or the appropriateness of consequences, just in a vacuum, the Beach Boys universe benefits from his musical presence as a writer, multi-instrumentalist and singer.

"Big Sur Christmas" is a regular on my BB Christmas music playlist. It has a few rough edges, but I like it.

Well paint me green and call me Gumby! I had no clue about all these Al Jardine Christmas songs. Hard for an old schooler like me to keep up with all these digital only releases. On the other time, it beats paying $12 for two songs, i.e. recent Record Store Day releases.

On the other time, it beats paying $12 for two songs, i.e. recent Record Store Day releases. That is something I've come to really appreciate, too. I used to be an albums-only guy--I didn't even like greatest hits comps. It was full, "real" albums only. But quite frankly over the years I've spent a lot of money on mostly garbage albums because I liked a few songs (or in some cases, because I liked the artist...my "completist" phase was not good for me). So being able to sample or listen to an album online and decide, yeah, I like tracks 1, 3, and 6, but nothing else? Heck yes, $2.97-$3.87 beats the pants off $11.99 or $14.99 or whatever. (Though yeah, I do miss the physical items, and worry that the files will become unplayable as formats change.)

That's a great playlist and photo. Back when Brian looked healthy. Those guys should have started a group and call it the Pendletones.
