Went to a small record store by my office and was able to pick up the Blue Vinyl LP of the Long Promised Road soundtrack. The store only had two copies and I was third in line, but I got the last one! Also picked up The Doors Paris Blues. That is a RSD exclusive and is limited to 10,000 LP’s. Mine is numbered 5056. Since LPR is just an RSD first, I would expect to see it offered for sale online soon. Had it been an exclusive, I would have ventured to the record store two miles away that was opening at 10 to get another copy, but I figure that everyone that wants one, should be able to get one soon. They show a black vinyl version as well on the RSD site, and that might be what will be released later. I had fun chatting with the folks in line and everyone was super chill. I only got there 30 minutes before they opened. A couple of people said that they had seen social media pics of the lines at the larger stores, so I was glad I chose a smaller store. My store didn’t have any copies of Dream Widow or The Jim Carroll Band (two other LP’s I was interested in), but I went mostly to get LPR. The Doors was just icing on the cake. I will probably play Paris Blues first, since I’ve never heard it.

Two copies...third in line...glad it worked out! Colored vinyl is cool. Nice pickup. I read that there were 2,000 copies pressed of the colored vinyl. Here's another photo:

I got lucky for a couple of reasons. First, one of the RSD regulars told us the RSD releases would be in the very back of the store, so I high tailed it back there. The two in front of me were a couple and the albums were not in any sort of order. She let me squeeze in to the left of her, and asked me if there was anything I was looking for, and I told her “Brian Wilson - Long Promised Road” . She immediately said - “Here it is” and her husband said “ I want that too”. So she handed him one copy, and me the other one, and then they were gone.

In The Doors' fanbase, there is still some debate as to when "Paris Blues" was recorded. It's not definitive. Some say it was recorded during The Soft Parade sessions in 1969, but others think it was recorded during L.A. Woman in 1971.

I was a bit excited about this release when it was announced, but completely forgot about it today. I'm getting burned out on this RSD special releases - they're not cheap, and I have probably been spending too much on my record collecting hobby this year. If I see it later and the price is right, I will grab it. Right now, I completely focused on NEXT Friday.

The record store day online orders for LPR are now available. I see one on eBay for $28.95 with free shipping right now. They even have Dream Widow, which I wanted, but the store didn’t have.
I will be listening to Sail On Sailor on Apple Music and buy the vinyl when the price drops. I figured LPR would be harder to get. Also - the 45 RPM Mono LP of Pet Sounds came available this week at Acoustic Sounds - so I had to get it. I love the stereo 45. That set me back $80, but I’ve been waiting for it to become available for awhile.

I'm hoping any interest in the RSD release of the LPR soundtrack convinces the label to print out a few more CDs of the album.
I know it's not the most essential release in the universe, but I would like to add it to my collection.
